Prince Symbol Box-Set Hi.
Could anyone tell me if there was ever an oficial release by Warner Brothers of the Black Album in a black box with a Symbol sign on the front. This release had only a 100 copies made worlwide? I've read something about it and i wondered if this was so. Thanks if anyone could help me out. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan

I don't think so...never heard of it.
The 'Symbol' album came in a gold box with a symbol on the front. I've seen a few of these 'limited editions' on Ebay, some look pretty much home-made.

This sounds like a fake.
I think the only official release was the regular Black Album with just black jewel case inserts and a black/peach sticker on the wrapper. And Prince was not really using the Symbol then (not the original one OR the ). Around Sign O The Times, The Black Album, and Lovesexy he was using hearts, peace signs, and the sign. That's another hint that it's probably a bootleg. [This message was edited Sat Feb 1 18:53:31 PST 2003 by Se7en]

No, the black album was never officially issued in anything other than a regular jewel case (though at least 2 'longbox' editions are known to have survived from the original '87 aborted release).
The only officaly released box set editions have been... Batman - in a circular black metal tin, with embossed Bat logo. - in a gold foil digibox with slipcase, has a purple symbol on the cover. (Promo editions also included a picture CD) Crystal Ball - in a clear circular case, included an extra disc of the NPG Orchestra's Kamasutra. (there was also a retail edition of this that included the circular booklet instead of the Kamasutra disc).

JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...
