I guess it's still there so go & check by urself. Wolfgang's vault use private archives or recorded live shows and negociate with the artists and/or labels the right to release them. Un4tunately the sound here isn't really good, and i wish Prince'd have given them his own recording instead of simply allowing that poor one to be released. Still, the concert itself is really amazing

we're sure that this is official? because I have a hard time believing he'd let them put "Come," "Black MF" or "Sexy MF" on there, unless they are highly edited. I see it over there, but I'm not bothering to sign up to access it. also, your discography covering it should have the date that the concert took place. (4/12/93)

Of course we r sure it's official. Wolfgansvault is a well recognized website (check online, there r articles about it) and they don't release anything without making sure whoever owns the stuff agreed. They'd have been closed by now if they weren't legal.

uh huh. and is that why they're playing a bootleg? is that what they use for their other streaming live music?

Nothing was edited (i guess Prince just cashed a check and let 'em use their own copy, note that he didn't allow them to offer it for download, which they often do with their concerts).

My discography shouldn't have the date the concert took place because it's not what my discography does (these things are Princevault's job, not mine cool ), i only specify release dates, not recording dates..

It probably should, at least for live "releases"

Ok, the full story is that they inherited the files of this Wolgand dude, who owned concert venues and recorded eveything that was played in 'em, and that's precisely the purpose of this website to release "Wolfgang's vault" so YES they do this with every concert. I think i read that since then the acquired other similar private collections when the site acquired recognition. As i told u i think it sucks because in this particular case, the artist has a crystal clear copy in his own vault, but still it's not what they do, and that's why they probably won't ever release any other Prince concert because they probably don't have any other.

I actually considered doing it at first, but the problem is the more data u add, the more messy and confusing it gets. This really is nothing but a chronological discography (including broadcasts and streamings) and as advised on page 1, whoever wants more data about the stuff he/she finds on my site can then check Princevault, whose job is to provide these kinda details.

Besides, it's more tricky that it looks: for exemple many live material Prince released got overdubbed (or even rerecorded in the case of the Sign "O" The Times film), so it's not as if there's a definitive recording date for everything...

It's totally 100% legit. Do a little reseach and your questions are easily answered.

I took a look. Putting "Prince" in the search on that site does indeed bring up the performance, but I'm not opening an account over there to listen to something if it's on a bootleg. And nothing there indicates that Prince gave them permission to stream it.

Cool. The login used to be pointless because it didn't affect anything. But now I see they've put a ten hour free streaming limit on all accounts in order to keep their costs down.

Their Concert Audio FAQ at the bottom of the main page answers your questions, but it used to have a better explanation.

Anyway, wasn't a big deal. Just that if I doubt what somebody is saying on the org (or any website) I go and look for myself. Because their answers could still be lies. lol
