biggrin I'm trying to understand the meaning of this song? And how did it make you feel when you first heard it?

Its about monogamy. It made feel horny, so i banged my gf at the time. Told her, Hey Sexy MF, shake that a@@, shake that a@@!

When I saw the video and the idiotic gun mic, I immediately thought he had hit rock bottom.

At first I though he had succumb to drug addition, now I am not sure if it was just a early mid-life crisis. But either way he made a complete fool of himself.

I first heard it at Parkhead where it was on the repeat screens before the gig on June 28th 1992, i was but a young 16 year old Mikey, travelled through from Edinburgh for the day. The biggest controversy wasn't that song but the screens flashing up 'ENGLAND ROCKS', which obviously isn't a crowd pleaser in Scotland...as for the song? Isn't it about Anne Widdecombe?

First heard it on Radio 1, where Simon Mayo refered to it as: Prince's Sexy Grandmother song!

For anyone not in the U.K: Simon Mayo was, (and probably still is), a REALLY sarcastic tw*t!!

Didn't like it on my first listen: all those horns made me think he'd gone all Glenn Miller/big band, but it grew on me.

Remember playing it as loud as I dared, with my bedroom window open, and having my mum come home from the shops and rush straight up the stairs demanding to know: "has he just said what I think he's just said?!!" and then: "don't EVER play that song in this house again!"

'Parental control:Explicit lyrics,' in action!!

Happy days!

Oh, you are fucking kidding me. I don't remember them doing that at the London shows on the tour, maybe it was just for you lot. Classic.

I wonder if he had a big "West Coast rules" banner at the Harlem press conference that would also have gone down like a cup of cold sick.

I kinda of laughed the first time I saw the video, which was the first time I heard the song. I told my sister, look at this vid of Prince. She and I had a good laugh, I thought it was cool and I really like it.

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

We need 2 talk about things
Tell me what cha do, tell me what cha eat
I might cook 4 u
See it really don't matter cuz it's all about me and u
Aint no one else around
Im even with the blindfold, gagged and bound
I don't mind
See this aint about sex
Its all about love being in charge of this life
And the next...
Why all the cosmic talk?
I just want u smarter than I'll ever be
When we take that walk

i think that he is saying that he wants to get to know a person before they......take that walk

Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
Purple music does the same 2 my brain
And I'm high, so high

He was trying to imitate the "thug" street look that the rappers where using and turning it to something positive. The gun mic says essentially that I don't need a real gun just a mic to have fun. In other words, I have my music speak for me instead of a gun. I also like that Prince portrayed the police as protectors in his My Name Is Prince video. Where as a lot of rap videos portrayed police in negative ways.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

good observations!!

I heard it fr the first time at a Sydney concert April '92...was cool to hear it before it came out on CD....loved it then...still do, although it has aged a bit..the video is, as usual, a bit cheap looking but he's done worse...my favourite video from that album would be 'the morning papers'...followed by '7'....I like the hype of 'My Name is Prince' but yeah, Sexy MF' as a video kinda wasn't a great move on his part...
