Lets make a list of filler songs My Dead Horse thread How many Prince songs do you consider filler tracks, I am going to list them all. To me filler tracks are tracks that are not very strong, don't really add to an album and are dross that you skip when listening to a Prince album. I will list some, you can agree or disagree

Some rapper who was probably bending over for Prince called Scrap D, his rapping was very scrappy to say da least.

I guess we all have our opinions, but damn - I think it's sad that you are skipping over these songs! What is it that you look for in Prince's music that makes it worthy enough for you not to skip?
I certainly understand the segue skipping. (And even the rap songs are kinda yuck IMO)
My advice is STOP SKIPPING over them and find out what others love a lot of these songs. They are either going to be interesting musically, lyrically, or emotionally. I can't tell you how often I've "discovered" a gem just because someone else pointed out things that I didn't hear on first listen.
And next time you are in love and can't get enough of that person, play a song like "When We're Dancing Close and Slow" and see if you can't find some appreciation for a heartfelt emotion.

Whatever happened to debate.
Rather than attack me personally for my choices, why put up your own list of filler. I don't always skip these songs, sometimes I will listen to them, but not really enjoy them. Also filler means anything from so so down to unlistenable, most of these trax are mediocre rather than truly awful. So far I have had about 4 neutral comments (Thanks Bohemian) , one person acyually clip my own list (Hey its an opinion and a start) and the rest have all been venal abuse, grow up and give me a list of filler. Surely no one is so blind as to love very song he has ever done, its like when he farts on a record its the thunderclap of the Gods. Seriously is this a Prince appreciation fan site or the First Ecumencial Church of Purple Wisdom Prince cult. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? Aww....I wasn't trying to attack you. I really was trying to find out what aspects of his songs interest you in order to understand why you thought those songs you listed were "filler" to you.
I like some songs that get hated on by one person or another. But they speak to me personally, so I I like 'em and don't care what others say. You have to admit that you were putting yourself out there for putting some popular songs on your filler list! Anything on Purple Rain is untouchable...Prince fam or not.

HA!!! Days of wild is a filler cuz it's "too long".....sigh.... Almost 99 percent of this list is wrong. Most of these songs make it's album unique. I don't think Prince believes in fillers when it comes to his albums either. A.K.A FunkyCoolMasina

I just don't like it, its a weak song on a very strong album. The singing is awful and it borders on the rapine side of lyrics. Its carnal lust taken too far. Hell to the no regarding Bob George, Calhoun Square, Days of Wild, Solo, Tambourine and several others including 2 Nigs. That is like pure funk. What the hell! Also Annie Christian. Oh yea and Everybody loves me....I'll just stop here as I hang my head in shame at the tracks mentioned. But I will say some songs like Orgasm are not really necessary but just help tie a set of tracks together. Just my little old opinion here. | |

Sort of too much aggression on here. It probably would have helped the debate if you hadn't said Let us make a list. Instead I respect your own personal feelings of these songs being fillers and not hoping to gain agreement.
With the term "filler" I assume you mean songs that don't disgust us, but just don't make as much of an oppression as the others. I don't agree with most of your choices, so here are some of my fillers. They all come from albums I love and respect, otherwise how could one be a filler:
Baby I'm a Star The Arms of Orion Fascination 4ever
That's all I could come up with. They are filler, which means they don't offend me, they don't disgust me, they just don't make an impression enough to justify their place on that particular album. They might work on other albums, though.
