Everything from New Power Soul to 20Ten is pretty much equally horrid.

The Chocolate Invasion. When the only memorable parts of an album are melodies so forced they almost cause physical pain, it's in trouble. At least N.E.W.S was entirely forgettable. I can imagine Prince muttering "Well, it sounded better in my head."

20Ten....and this live cd in the book 21 nights....

songs like when eye lay my hands on you and underneath the cream are better then almost anything he has done over the past ten years.

The cholocate invasion IMO is far superior to the slaughterhouse

Yup. There might be a song or two on each album that I kinda liked and maybe played a handful of times.

I dunno, I'd have to second Planet Earth or about 70% of the Lotus Flower set I know that by saying this I'm risquing a huge debate on religion, which I really don't wanna do, but I feel like his preachier tracks (or just more critique of society-parenty-more jehovah than thou material) just don't work as accesable pop songs. The lyrical content isn't applicable to everyone (i.e. I am not a Jehovah's Witness and while I respect those folks I can't attach myself to the tracks the way I can with say, "When Doves Cry") and sadly, a lot of the musical factions aren't strong enough to make up for it (IMO). There are certain tracks I like on each (more so on the Lotus Flower set)...but yeah. I don't think he's unaware of that though. I just think those things attribute to those albums not being good.

Also I think 20ten is like taking baby steps back to what would make for killer music...

What's funny is how when all of these albums came out, folks on here kept praising them. Now the reviews are overwhelmingly negative. New album frenzy?
