For me it's Purple rain.

Purple rain hands down for me. Best album of his career!! Anyone who really thinks Purple is not...C'mon Man!!! Thats just the die hards who feel like they have to pick something different. Quit hatin!! Purple Rain and 1999 are the BOMB!! Sign is aight but kinda boring

SOTT just as theres more of it, and it has my favourite song Adore on it, but there are also no lesser moments on it. Both computer blue and Darling Nikki on Purple Rain are a slight let down, plus with fact that the singles of PR have been played to death, is why I like them less than SOTT.

Don't know why there is so much hate or neutrality over It, its a fantastic song, horny lyrics, a sexually hungry Prince and a punding raw drum beat, I mean if you loved Dirty Mind you are going to have to love this song. It is far from being filler, its one of the stronger cuts and comes as a relief after the slightly quirky Dorothy Parker.

Some of the marks people have given tracks off SOTT are just ludicrous, I mean 1/10 for it a 3/10 for Dorothy Parker, really??????

And I would put 1999 (2nd) and Dirty Mind (3rd) in between Sign and Purple Rain in my list of favourite Prince albums as well. Parade would be in 5th place

Ditto, I am a bit younger (mid 30s) but I only really play 80s music and if I am not listening to the 80s then I am listening to 70s mostly disco, funk or some David Bowie. I was into rap and all that shit in the early 90s but outgrew it and can't stand chart crap that they have now. But if they did a Deluxe Edition of Purple Rain, then I'd prob. lean closer to that one. Once you play something out and know it backwards and forwards, it gets hard to listen to the songs from it.

'SOTT' covers more ground and it is a masterpiece,but I think 'Purple Rain' is simply more exciting and alot more fun to listen to.

My interest in SOTT has been jolted a bit by my recent listening of the SOTT tour rehearsals, much to my neighbours annoyance..

They really are great, all warm and fuzzy, not like the tangled gloop of the album tracks.

Even though the gap is only 7%, I'd take SOTT every day. I prefer it because it's a double album and a more even record to my ears. Don't take the rating too serious though, I'd give the songs higher marks if I hadn't had to compare them

All the albums from For You until Purple Rain, Ican sing every song with all the words...

Anything after that, I may have bought, but singles, is as far as I can go on "Loving" with the intensity I had.

He got my attention a couple of times, but not sustainable until Lotus Flower. Then OMG He's awake alive, and vibrant!
