Prince on bad terms with his former co-workers Prince jams with Sheila E,Morris Day on some concerts
but what about former band members that didn't part
with Prince on good terms?
I know Miko Weaver left a band after
almost having
a fight with Prince(it's documented on audio of 1990 rehearsal)
and Levi Seacer sued Prince over songwriting dispute.
What about the others?
He don't hang with Jill also |

I don't know, i honestly don't think, all of them hold a grudge over Prince for him being a jackass. Eric was owed money, left on bad terms, but played with Prince in 2002 and on. I think its Prince wanting to bring ppl back in the fold like Mr. Hayes or Elisa Fiorillo (former girlfriend of Prince's) for a new tour and/or album. Sometimes Prince just runs into these ppl through mutual friends, musicians, or parties, so unless neither of these things happen...I don't think Prince cares to rekindle every single relationship (whether bad or good) he's had over the past 30+ years. yeah seeing as he has had some members for as long as 10 years or more, I think it is more about who he wants to play with and who he does not. |

Never thought of it that way but, he was their boss. The Revolution was more so, P's friends and you'd think that other musicians or artist that work with P would be friends with him. I don't think Miko or Levi or someone who didn't grow up with P would still be on speaking terms with him.

Is that really true of the Revolution, though? I mean even as close as W&L appeared to be to Prince, he still continually (mis)treated them as employees.
For example; I believe it was during the event in Sheridan, Wyoming back in 1986 (for the UTCM premiere party, or maybe slightly before this...) that Wendy was at the hotel and stepped outside her room into the hallway with a beer in her hand. Prince saw this and deducted $500 dollars from her paycheck.
It was this event (after a long string of them) that W&L, reportedly, took as a final straw in the way they were being treated and decided to quit shortly thereafter. They got as far as the airport before Prince sent someone to beg them to come back because he needed them for the Parade tour. As soon as it was over, he fired them. He just wanted to have the last word. B*stard. |

I understand Prince,he had iron discipline
i never looked that way but if Wendy and Lisa
weren't doing things like that(trying to catch early plane)
,they would
still be in the band |

Yeah, just goes to show you he was 'the boss' first and 'friend' second. What's great is he still works with Wendy, Lisa & Sheila to this day. People who know him and are close with him or 'closer' then any of us are the only people I think should have some form of say so about Prince. Not to put his business out there but, I overheard Jellybean say he was gonna kick P's ass during the 7.7.7 shows in Bunkers. I was like 'whoa' but, then again, they've known one another since high school so who am I to defend P ... LoL |

I also think it's important to understand the nature of creative relationships.
I am on great terms with every director I've ever worked with. None of them would hesitate for a second to cast me again. But doesn't mean they hire me for every play they direct. It has to be the right role, I have to be the right fit with the other actors they're casting, etc. And (on my side), I have to want to do a particular play - and it has to fit in with my schedule.
I imagine putting together a band works the same way. No matter how much Prince loves what any of his former band members did/do, a lot of pieces have to fall into place to make it happen again. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

You know, that's really just Prince having unnecessary power trips. It has nothing to do with being a boss. A boss isn't an egomaniac and Prince is.
Prince wanted to control damn near everyone and everything in his life (he still does). But obviously when Prince and the Revolution were paying dues on tour and Prince was still utilizing his band as creative forces for his music, it wasn't too cool to up and fire someone so you hit them where it hurts most - in the pocket. I imagine things got quite friendly around the block when Prince started dating Susannah (and even before then whilst he was living under the same roof as Lisa).
After the relative failures of ATWIAD and Parade to keep the same pace as Purple Rain and after his other media endeavors went belly up (UTCM, We Are the World, obstinance re: music videos/singles) it was probably a lot easier to stomach letting them go because he was already a star now (in large part, due to the band). |

Strong personalities get strong reactions from people. Prince definitely falls into that category. Some people get rubbed the wrong way and want out, others it seems hang around until its time to spread their wings and fly on their own. Others he cuts loose because it was ridiculous to have them in the first place. Yeah, I'm looking at you Mosely, and stop sucking in your cheeks.

Really? Cause every "good" boss that I've seen is definately controlling in how he runs his business. That's how he makes things work. If you're too friendly with people, they don't respect you! Prince is boss first, friend second. I wrote my best friend up once because she came to work with her nose ring in and knew it was against policy, she laughed when I told her to take it out. Next thing she knew, I had her in the office signing her write up slip..she was cut 2 days off her pay! That's the way it goes in business.
I've sent friends home for showing up high, out of dress code, etc. And even had to fire a couple people. The guy over me at that job was such an egomania and I couldn't really stand him at work. But outside of work, loved him to death and spend holidays at his house with his family for 3 years straight. Prince did what he had to do. He's never had a problem with replacing a member, always a boat load of good guitar, piano, drums players that are eager to work with Prince. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol |

I don't know, but one of the remaining "game boyz" at the last celebration told someone that they don't really like to mention tony's name around Paisley Park. But this is all hearsay! But it is true that the other two guys were still around helping out in various roles (even drumming) but Tony M was never part of the Prince camp after the symbol album. I think I know someone that might know exactly what happened... I wonder if he will surface here and shed some light? |

The rumor about Carmen Electra is that she slept with Levi Seacer Jr. while he was CEO or whatever of Paisley Park Records, Prince found out, booted both from the camp, wrote "I Hate U" about her, etc. |

Playing in a band w/ other musicians is similar to having to go to a job and be around your co-workers. There are some people you have chemistry with and some that you don't.
But when you have your own band, it's easier to fire someone if you don't get along with them or their not keeping up with you. I think in P's case it's both.
Not to compare, but there's some musicians that I've played with in the past that I'm still cool with and there's some that I never want to see or jam with again. I'm sure there's other musicians on
the org that have been thru the same thing. |
