Something In The Water(Does Not Compute) First Ave Performance

Damn! I love this performance of this song eek I mean Prince's voice, his screams-just way over the top eek Very nice performance cool Love it better than the 1999 version and the guitar solo is great.

Oh, lord. The guitar on this is amazing. To me, the 1999 album is like winter captured on vinyl. It's part of the reason I love that album so much. The First Avenue performance doesn't bother trying to keep that. The live version is warm, sexy, and intense. I can't choose which one I love more. Both versions are incredible, and while they're obviously the same song performed very similarly, they're so very different.

I know what you mean, that performance was wild

You cold feel the pain, and the band rolled like waves underneath him, guitars screaching

I love it

Same, it was like he was on the verge of crying if wanted to. You could feel all the confusion and pain from him towards all the females in his life that had done him wrong. The whole show was great, but this song steadily competes with Erotic City from this same show for my love. One of the rare times he ever played the song and he totally kills it. The long guitar stretching at the end is fabulous too, it's like "when does it end"! It makes the LP version sounds flat, of course, since it's being compared to a live show.

Gotta' love the rehearsal too for this show, Noon/Neon Rendezvous.

I love the way he can totally transfix from one emotion to the next in his songs/setlistings in shows. Right after this is 'When Doves Cry' and he's happy, trying to get the crowd hype. (C'mon ya'll!!! See if we get everybody to do it, then it'll get sexy in here.)

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Yeah, there's a rehearsal version of this song that's my favorite. I don't remember if it's the one for this show or not. Love pretty much all of that show, though.

I hope you are talking about the First Avenue June 7, 1984 performance. I just got my hands on a copy of it and I heard 17 Days, Our Destiny, and Roadhouse Garden live for the first time. What a concert! Based on your review, I can't wait to hear Something In The Water! biggrin

Okay, nurse! Something In The Water is playing now and it is everything you said it was! That driving bass and rhythm... The conviction of his voice and guitar riffs... Simply amazing! So glad I had the chance to finally hear this! biggrin The following performance of When Doves Cry is equally spectacular! I've never heard such a great live version of this... The Revolution are in great form! And I love the raw sound of the boot--feel as if I'm there! It gets me so jazzed to see him live! Hope you feel the same way after hearing this great concert! wink

I love the "26" boot, it is a great gig.

The fact that it includes a number of (still) unreleased songs is a big plus for me.

And yes, "Something In The Water........." is a great performance.

Neon Rendezvous. nod

The guitar...the screaming... faint

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yes, there is a version of "Something In The Water........." on Noon Rendezvouz, but there is also a version of the song on the 2nd disc of the "26" bootleg, which is supposedly a rehearsal for the 26th birthday show.
