Well he has to be realistic that if an album does not come out everywhere for actual purchase then ...HELLO..its going to happen.

I understand his frustration though as ...how can people make money off of YOU selling your product that was not to be sold by itself over the internet..however..realistically....he had to know that was going to happen...even I knew that..it was one of the first things I thought.

Isnt that what happened with Planet Earth too b4 it hit USA?

Speaking of "20Ten" does any one know the latest info on the deluxe release? Is it actually coming out and if so when?

Gosh! I really want it!

The one who gets it at the cost of a newspaper and then immediately puts it online at 20 euro per cd.

Prince made the music, he deserves to get paid.

The mirror distributed, they deserve to get paid.

So... going by your logic then, nothing a person buys at retail can EVER be sold. EVER.

...and you don't approve of "collector's items" at all, either, obviously.

Gee, are we allowed to throw things away or must we haul everything around with us for the rest of our life?

You're stretching things for your own convenience. Didn't anybody ever tell you never and ever are dangerous words?

Stick to the topic. It's about 20ten being on sale a day later at 20 euro online. A cd that was given away with a newspaper. Prince's cd, music for the people by the people. We're not talking about a mark up on a gucci dress in a fashion store. Or a bmw that's just rolled out the factory. Or a collector's item 10 or 20 years later.

Give me a break. You're the one standing on no ground whatsoever, lying about how Prince gave a cd away for free. falloff

He didn't give it away for free - he SOLD it to the Mirror and they gave it away for free to boost circulation.

Prince got paid

The Mirror got paid

The US fans got hold of the CD

Which one's the money grabbing thief exactly ?

The one who gets it at the cost of a newspaper and then immediately puts it online at 20 euro per cd.

Prince made the music, he deserves to get paid.

The mirror distributed, they deserve to get paid.

It is the release strategies for One Nite Alone, Planet Earth, LotusFlow3r/MPLSound and 20TEN that Prince has orchestrated himself that have led to pirating and gouging. If he releases it to them, his fans will buy it. If he doesn't, then they will find a way to own it any way. There is very little difference between him hanging on to outtakes and live shows and the way he releases his proper albums these days.

Re-read what you typed - it was GIVEN AWAY WITH A NEWSPAPER

Therefore the only people entitled to complain really is THE NEWSPAPER.

Prince got paid - end of story.

no one is really 'entitled' to say anything, everyone knew or should have known that would happen. They all had to know that most of their normal readers would not care to hear it and that some people would buy extra copies to give away or sell. So really they do not have any rational to be upset.

This seems silly to me. If somebody wants to buy something of mine for more than I paid for it, and I'm willing to part with it, then hell yeah I'll sell it.

Isn't that the whole reason he started his get a CD with the purchase of something else in the first place? To make sure that above all else...HE got paid. What people do with them after they make their initial payment to acquire them, really shouldn't any of Prince's concern.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Yup, Prince expects to be paid in advance - even album sales. lol Indeed, I quite believe this was the whole issue with WB and that $100M contract. Prince expected the $10M bonus whether the albums sold well or not...

Perhaps Prince would like for music to come with a software-style EULA that forbids the customer from resale or making negative reviews. wink
