Prince disappointed about Internet fan sales of 20Ten, but Elton John seems to love Prince music

Yesterday I found this - from july 14 2010:

http://vip.tv2.dk/article...ox2&ss

^ It tells: Prince was disappointed the 20Ten album were sold for $20 by fans on the internet right after the UK papers Daily Mirror and Daily Record had given away free copies.

Also: according to Daily Mirror Elton John wouldn't miss Prince's 20Ten album and ordered 5 copies of the saturday UK paper delivered with a courier to his home outside London (courier spelled? Kurér in danish).

ps. I hope Elton liked the 20Ten album... wink

(Sorry if this little story has been posted here already.)

It ain't rocket surgery Prince. Make it available for purchase everywhere or quit bitching.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Well it's true. I saw on Dutch sites, people selling 20ten for 20 euro too.

Absolute snakes in this world. I mean how cheap can you get?

Selling Prince's cd when he gave it away for free?

He has every right to be disappointed. It's sickening.

disbelief

Or: they aren't fans just money grabbing thieves.

The US fans got hold of the CD

you would think he would be more upset with the 1000s given away via download. He had the chance to sell it, and... to paraphrase:

'he's lying, i can tell just by his expression he's lying, he gave it away it's not his anymore' (meaning the physical CD, once he gave it away that person had every right to do with it as they please) **you can not give something away and then say "oh by the way you can not sell it to anyone."

Jesus Christ Prince, how the hell are ppl OUTSIDE of the UK suppose to get your music? Make a distribution deal and bam...you have business. But you shouldn't be bitching about ppl selling your music, you should be disappointed with your creation, 20ten is your worst album.

Last I checked, Prince is the one only accepting big advance payments for everything and selling albums through newspapers for $$$ instead of sticking it in stores and actually doing work to move them.

People can sell whatever they want once they buy it.

I'm wondering if he's just going to give free copies out at the shows, also distribute copies courtesy of Newsday, NY Times, or the NY Post, and sell deluxe versions at the venues. Are the people in the expensive seats getting "grab bags" of stuff?

Then everyone's going to be pissed off around the US that New Yorkers have their copies, but of course, they're going to be popping up on ebay and fansites.

He only has this "pay up front" policy because he doesn't want to do the work of promoting an album (a job typical done by record companies). if the distributors pay in advance, he doesn't have to be concerned with the public's opinion of the album, he's already gotten paid. all things considered, he's just being lazy.

time flies.

Oh, and BTW, I guess someone forgot to tell Prince, that not everyone who bought a newspaper that day and just happened to get 2010, is necessarily a fan.

Some of them could give a ratz azz about Prince... "but if some fool in the US is willing to pay some cold hard cash 100 x what I paid for it... well hell yeah I will sell on Ebay. "

You know, Prince can be pretty stupid sometimes, but come on now. Really. He didn't expect this? Fuck off, Prince.

I have a $77 T Shirt big enough for my girlfriend's little stuffed animal on a good day. If that is any indication about how much money matters to Prince, then forget it. Anbody remember a $20 Face Down Live CASSETTE TAPE? Sure, it may smell a little to see 20Ten being sold online, but it is not a bootleg, and if you can sell 20Ten for 20 Euros, then fine. I doubt anyone on the org would pay that much, but that's because most of us had it in July.

If they really wanted to scare them, they should have just played the CD.

Which one's the money grabbing thief exactly ?

The one who gets it at the cost of a newspaper and then immediately puts it online at 20 euro per cd.

Prince made the music, he deserves to get paid.

The mirror distributed, they deserve to get paid.

Ummm...Prince got paid by the Mirror, and the Mirror got paid when people bought the paper. What happens after that is out of their hands.

Now, if people were stealing papers to get the cd's to sell, then you would have a point.
