Gold Experience

I just received The Gold Experience in the mail today and I absolutley love it. Thus far, there isn't one song that I would want to skip. I always thought that 'Dolphin' would get on my nerves for some reason (I had never heard it before I got the album) but I think that it's a beautiful song smile. I know that other people have expressed this before but I just had to share my happiness with the Org. woot!

The Gold Experience is perhaps Prince's best work of the 90's...ok...i take that back...The Gold Experience is Prince's best work since SOTT...i enjoyed the Rainbow Children and the new direction that Prince took his Music...but if i just wanna rock out i put "319" on and dance my booty! off...

Definitely definitely.

I bought that record when it came out thinking, "okay, if THIS one is bad, I'm giving up on the man". I was SOOO impressed (Billy Jack Bitch is the SHEEEHAZ) I HONESTLY BELIEVED the wrecka would go #1 and the man would return to the throne.

Which, really, if you think about it, happened. Most Beautiful Girl was his highest-ranking hit, wasn't it?

not his HIGHEST ranking, but it did phenomenally well, considering the lull he had had since Graffitti bridge. TGE always bothers me, becaue it is one of his best, and IU really think it should've done much better then it did!

His best album after Dimonds & Pearls, IMO.

The Gold Experience is when I became an active fan.

Every track is great. Prince really seemed to have an energetic outlook at the time. Just as many people marvel at Prince's 86-88 output, Prince's 93-94 output was phenomenal, considering the new tracks from the Hits/B-Sides, Come, TGE and the 93-94 tracks from Crystal Ball. It was another peak in his career, for sure.

As much I loved that era, I still feel the album lacks some punch. We March is not even catchy, Shy is probably overrated and 319 could never really be Kiss. That said, there are some monumental jams on there.

Endorphinmachine
Shhh
Days Of Wild (should have been included)
The Most Beautiful Girl
Dolphin
Now
Billy Jack Bitch
I Hate U
Gold

This could have been a classic. sad

I remember listening to it the first time, then going back to the start and listening over again. Love the ass-licking sleeve notes as well.
Has some of both his best and worst on it - love BillyJackBitch, IHateU, Now, Ssh (one of the MOST underrated tracks), but... for God's sake - We March and P control have to be his most stupid and lazy stuff.
And isn't it the last time he was really swearing properly? I miss it.

yeah i snagged GoldExperience at a huge cd sale ...i mean HUGE!...& got a few 90s albums there.

when i heard Endorphinmachine...i was fuckin blown away!
i went out 2 thelounge with mum & dad & sed "oh mum this Prince album it...its..." she sed "electrifying?" . . . .i sed "YEAH THATS IT!"

in my top4 albums.just brilliant, tho i would have taken off We March & Billy Jack Bitch & added Acknowledge Me & Days O' Wild.
these 2 changes & thi sowuld have been not just a classic in P circles...but in rock history i think.

ppl say Gold is either a "contradiction" which i dont hear...but i think
it is simply amazing!
always gives me goosebumps when that guitar realy kicks in near the end of the 2nd verse.

& "Shhh" is extremely underrated.

9/10 ... 4 this album.
