Prince with Buddy Miles!

I'm just listening to a version of The Ride recorded in Dallas. I can't make out who the guy towards the end is. The version has a jazzy centrl part which is reminiscent of one of the melodies from Kind Of Blue. The guy in the song also refers to Erykah Badu.

Can somebody tell me when this track was recorded and what it's all about?

I'd be eternally grateful, it's quite cool in places. I'm definitely feeling the piano in the middle, but I'm not sure it's Prince playing it.

pray

Really? Nobody knows about this track? I'm surprised. It's kinda distinctive really.

Might as well ask what the track is from Paris where he sings "good morning to you" over some nice guitar playing.

Anybody know?

You've all been so good I thought u might help me with this.

not a CD, just downloaded. The first one I was talking about is a version of The Ride performed in Dallas, but it has a long jazzy middle section which seems to allude to a Miles Davis track, but I can't think right now which one. Anyway, after a hectic piano solo some dude starts talking about being happy to be there etc. and Prince joins him for some scatting.

It's really very cool in some places, although I could do without the talking and scatting.

Any ideas who the guy is? Sounds like Buddy Miles or Bobby Miles at the end when Prince speaks.

This is Buddy Miles on drums , he was the legendary drummer of the Jimi Hendix's band of gypsies.

Thank u very much. I thought he said Buddy Miles.

But when was he jimi's drummer, before or after Mitch Mitchell.

Or just in different bands with Jimi?

So that means it's Prince playing that piano solo? That's a ferocious bit of Piano playing!

Again, thanks for the help. pray

Mitchell was the drummer of the 1st jimi's band "the Jimi Hendrix Experience" and Buddy was the drummer of the 2nd "the band of gypsies" with Billy Cox on bass. They record only 1 but great live album "the band of gypsies". On the album there's a fantastic song calla "machin gun" , this 1 was an inspiration 4 Prince's "Habibi".
