Oh shit 1994 & 1995 just KILLED me!!!

Just did 1994 & 1995 in a row... Took me 2 separate 12 hours sessions!!!

https://sites.google.com/...raphy/1995

These 2 years definitely were the hardest so far, with all the fucked up remixes and edits and the TV appearances and the goddamn promo samplers and other crap like dat. Prince really pushed it hard 2 promote his music by all possible means outside of WB at this time, and the result is a HUGE MESS 4 discographers lol !!!

Thanks God 1996-2000 should be quite easy 2 do biggrin

Damn i'm exhausted!

but you have to admit that altho putting all that stuff in chronological order is a huge task

and all the separate releases are quite an onslaught on the ears, the material is top notch.

weren't you overwhelmed by the sheer quality of most of the songs, especially his own cd

tracks?

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Oh, all this music was amazing back then and still is 2 this days. I share ur enthusiasm biggrin

Thing is that u really notice a change of method after 1993. Before it basically was albums + singles, weither it was 4 Prince or the songs he wrote 4 others, so even though it was hard 2 track down all the release dates and remixes, the research structure was quite simple. Starting in 1994 it becomes crazy: Prince xperiments with loads of 4mats, multiplies the TV & radio broadcasts, mixes his own releases and his side-projects's releases into single entities. It really was fascinating 2 watch back then... and hardcore 2 compile now lol

Oh, and thanks 4 the thumbup Squirrelgrease biggrin As i was hot, i did 1996 after that lol

Probably won't be able 2 add any more year b4 next February now: busy weeks r on the way wink

Peace y'all smile

Afaik, Prince was never involved in any way in John L. Nelson's Father's Song EP.

Do you have any real proof that he was?

He played guitar on it, or so I was told by Sharon Nelson, who was promoting John L. and gave me a copy of the EP.

"Gemini" is listed as the guitarist on a couple of the tracks.

Well, we're talking about ONE guitar solo which is repeted twice since the last track is just an extended version of the first.

And... I don't think that solo is played by Prince. It could be, but I'm far more inclined to think it was somebody else trying to sound 'a bit like Prince'.

Had Sharon talked about Prince contributing bass or some keyboard arrangements I would believe it. But I'm not buying the guitar solo story.

I actually added it based on RodeoSchro's info, as i think his source is believable. As we have no other source, though, i address the issue in my "question & doubts" appendix (https://sites.google.com/...cography/3) as follows:

Prince's sister told a Prince.org member that Prince is the guitar player credited as "Gemini" on this record, which is why the EP is included here (i have no reason to doubt said orger or Prince's sister's claims). The bass sounds quite a lot like Prince too (much more than the guitar, which actually doesn't sound like him at all) and since there's no bass player credited, i'll assume that this "guitar" credit includes both bass and guitar. Now, but if someone knows for a fact that Prince played only guitar or only bass or just nothing at all, please let me know (because there's bass on every track but there's guitar only on #1 & #4, and for all we know Prince's sister could have lied)...
