Coolest Prince song Doesnt it have to be THe Ballad of Dorothy Parker? I listened to the album version for the first time in a long time and found myself digging the layers in the opening before Prince starts to sing. Amazing - it occured to me that no one else could be that and it was what made Prince great - vintage Prince. Then I dug the vocals and lyrics - this is what really puts the song over for me. Very cool lyric without being pretentious or trying too hard. Go find the live jazz version he did on the Tonight show some years ago and you will see why I think it might just be the coolest Prince song ever.

Find it! I think it might be his best TOnight Show performance ever - even with Najee in the band.
