ANOTHERLOVERWHOLENYOHEAD: WHAT IS PRINCE SAYING? Orgers, I have a 23 year old question and can't find it nowhere. In the beginning of the video for Another Lover Whole In Your Head, what is praying saying in the beginning of the video while he's sitting at the edge of the stage? I'm not a lip reader so what was he saying? Jason

something like that. "or come on that was WRONG."
maybe "why'd yuo do that (throe that), come on that was wrong"
I also just watched it, weird how Wendy plays the guitar left handed...
I know why but that seems like they are knowingly trying to get past the law or the copyright. Seems that could make matters worst for them if they were ever sued. [Edited 11/22/10 18:01pm] "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

That's always what I've "read," too. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

That's still my favorite video of all time, by the way. He looks like a slice of lemon meringue pie in that suit - totally edible. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

For some reason I've always translated it this way: Another Lover Who (put a) hole in your head May you rest in peace, my beautiful queen, Teena Marie

er sagt , ich baue jetzt ein Indianerdorf und du kommst dann hin dein Hase kannst du auch mitnehmen.

Which would be an incorrect translation.
Needing something like you need a hole in the head is an American colloquialism which basically means you don't need the thing in question, at all.
What Prince means when he says, "You need another lover like you need a hole in your head" is that she doesn't need another lover, period. She'll never find another who can do for her what he does - sexually and otherwise.
It's pretty straightforward - but may be confusing in this case because the thread author misspelled the title of the song.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I know that.. it's just that before I got to know what it meant, the first time I listened to Parade (I was like what? 11 or 12..) of course I didn't know what the title meant and tried to figure it out with explanations like the one I wrote down :p May you rest in peace, my beautiful queen, Teena Marie
