I don't know much about the story behind it, all I know is that it's 1 of my alltime fav songs and I LOVE the lyrics! this song truly makes me cry. | |

I don't think Prince's inspiration has been mentioned by anyone close the the recording, but it's generally agreed that the story is a work of complete fiction. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |
