Carmen Electra: Alternate Version?

So I'm certain many of you are familiar with the songs left off Carmen's album, but did a complete copy of the original version of the album these tracks are sourced from ever leak? I've seen the original track listing label but is the whole thing out there?

By the way, anyone else ever wonder about those unreleased remixes of Fantasia Erotica? I remember hearing about them back in the day but I've never gotten to hear them. Were they any good?

There was an official remix CD for "Fantasia Erotica" released. The mixes on it were alright. Nothing too great. There was one that stood out for me though and I tended to put it on my mixtapes more often. Only the released Paisley Park CD configuration is out there her other tracks are floating around on various bootlegs.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I pretty much ignore(d) her. I have the Fantasia Erotica maxi, but wish I didn't. lol Never cared much about her alternate versions of outtakes, but I dig some of the Mayte stuff that was never released. Some of them may have been the same songs... I forget.

Not sure if this is where the alternate versions came from.. (I doubt it)

But i have this.. its from "Uptown book Days of Wild"

Press board of an earlier configuration of Carmen Electra, with partially different track listing, 1992.

Actually, the first version is out there, at least as a promo version. I once had it in my hands and after seeing her live in 92 I thought ''nah, maybe later.." duh .By now it's quite rare but it IS out there.

I always find it bizarre when people mention that there's a Prince version of this song (which I think was slated for inclusion on one of his late 80's albums, can't remember though)

I just can't imagine his version of it. Has it never leaked or is it circulating in small circles. If so, how similar is it to Carmen's version?

blah blah blah

I prefer the Mayte unreleased tracks too.

Some of the tracks that Mayte recorded (that were not included on her album) were leftover Carmen tracks. The Juice, Carmen On Top, Go Carmen Go and the released Carmen track This Is My House. Mayte did a leftover Sheila E track too which was Latino Barbie Doll. She also did a version of If I Could Get Your Attention which was released by Taja Sevelle.

Sorry for the topic change.

If you collect all the outtakes from the Carmen album and put them all together it is (imo) a better album than the one released, still terrible though.

lol

I agree, I'd love to hear Prince's version too.

vitriol

CD2 of Sabotage's "Sun, Moon & Stars" release is the closest to any 'early configuration' of the Carmen Electra album I've ever seen circulate. It claims to come from an acetate, IIRC. Don't know if it's made up or for real.

I can kind of hear it actually. I'd love to hear the actual too, if there is such a version. nod

I think people mention that there is a Prince version because the song is known to be pulled from earlier material meant for his Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic LP.

From The Vault:

A later configuration of Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic, dating to late 1988 or early 1989 (pre-Batman) had a revised track listing - Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic, If I Had A Harem, Good Judy Girlfriend, Pink Cashmere, Electric Chair, Am I Without U?, God Is Alive, Still Would Stand All Time and Moonbeam Levels.

And

Meanwhile, Carmen’s album took shape during 1991, with Prince recording songs on and off throughout the year. The starting point for her album was Carmen On Top, recorded at Larrabee Sound in March 1991, and three existing tracks pulled from the vault - Fun, Fantasia Erotica, and Good Judy Girlfriend. Fun was initially planned as a preview single in 1991. The album was originally titled On Top, but it was later changed to Carmen Electra. It was in all essentials finished in early 1992, but it underwent several changes before it was eventually released in February 1993.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
