It's said the value of something is determined only by how much somebody is willing to pay for it.

If somebody wants it bad enough they'll paid over and above what is reccomended.

not that i have any experience with buying/selling records.

With all due respect, it's not Prince records that have lost value. The poor economy is having a huge impact on used record sales of all artists. It's been going on for years. Things that could have sold years ago for hundreds of dollars are lucky to go for $100. Too bad too because I've got a ton of stuff I'd like to sell (Prince and others) but I can't see selling it for a fraction of what it's probably worth. I guess I'll have to hold onto it all for a few more years and hope the economy turns around.

Of course, the fact that Prince hasn't really been a pop culture hit in a looooong time may have some impact on his collectibles with the exception of the hardcore collector.

Funny rating considering that Gotta Stop is easily twice as rare as Let's Work (and twice as expensive, usually). Both ratings are waaaayy too high, however.

Also, people used to buy these because there was no other easy way of listening except bootleg tapes which were usually poor quality. Now they are really more for the collectors.
