thanks 4 posting this, so cool & very funny also. i remember an orger talking about the glasgow garage aftershow, about how tiny the place was & how they crammed the audience in.. glasgow..!? prince was so brave, but shit! what was he thinking?
donald mcleod recollections are too funny to imagine..
prince played until after 3am, the highlight was that he went out the front door onto sauchiehall street at the end of the night, the Rolls reversed at 70 mph, the back door of the car swung open and prince dived into the back seat like an olympic swimmer. he remembered someone across the street shouting, 'Go on, yersel, wee man.' ... please, what does that mean in english? it sounds funny whatever,
he talks about 'prince's wife' stagediving & how when prince was undecided wether to perform, donald told him he could not guarantee his safety if he did not. wtf!
& did they say he had a kebab thrown at him?..
i know i shouldn't be laughing but

Those two secc gigs were better than Celtic park and meadowbank put together. I didn't catch the aftershow but the main gigs were two of the best Prince shows I have attended.

just as well he jumped into the limo.....any guy caught walking down sauchiehall street at night in high heels in glasgow wouldnt last 2 minutes

you'd be surprised. glasgow is more accepting than most places in the UK. nobody would likely care.
if prince can get away with in in a place like american, he could anywhere else. "Sisters and brothers in the purple underground, find peace of mind in the pop sound!"

DoffieParker said: 'Go on, yersel, wee man.' ... please, what does that mean in english? it sounds funny whatever, It means what it means, really. Gawn yersel wee man (or big man, dependant on either height, weight or social standing of recipient), in its simplest sense, is a congratulatory term commonly used by Scotsmen in celebration of a person's achievements. I guess a rough translation from colloqual brigue would be 'I admire and respect what you have done'.

The first SECC night was my first ever Prince show. Amazing night. I was only 15 so didn't go to the aftershow. Was gutted when I read about it!
