It's a show by Prince and the band after the main show usually in a smaller venue in the the same city that he has just played in. Prince doesn't tire out, he's a machine!

I'm going to New Jersey to join the concert.

The NPGMC used to offer prority tickets, whis was Prince himself, so unless there's VIP tickets available then no.

NPGMC is extinct. There is no membership of any kind any more so no special seating opportunities.

To make it simple

Aftershow is another concert held after the main concert is over

(Usualy played later on in the night and at diffrent venue)

Sometimes a After Party announced in honor of the concert you just seen

This doesnt mean prince or whoever it is u saw will be there or play

So dont get confused and go to an after party expecting to see prince

Aftershows have kind of changed for Prince over the years. Earlier in his career while on tour, they would do an aftershow unexpectedly in any given city. They were rare. When the Las Vegas and London runs came along the aftershows were announced ahead of time and tickets sold in advance. As far as the cost, the price has went up just like the regular shows have, that's to be expected.

I know in San Diego, he played Canes for the aftershow. When he's played NYC, did he have a place he preferred to go?

But I wonder if he's going to be doing a private show at the old CBGBs, John Varvatos has lined up private late night shows and wouldn't be surprised if they had something planned. And as some people have said, there's no guarantee he shows up.

Did he ever play Canes? I thought it was a bone of contention that he didn't.

No special seating opportunities anymore--Isn't that a shame? After being in the NPG Music CLub and seeing him up close the last 2 times I've seen him I have no desite to just buy a ticket anymore and see him from far off or with binoculars or some shit. Guess I'm spoiled but once you've been right up in the first 5 rows how can you go back to regular first come first get seating,? I would be too depressed.

aftershow i'm there..afterparty...not so much...i wanna see prince longer..be in the presence of him and a guitar as long as possible

it means impromptu, the opposite of the concerts

A lot more relaxed as far as what is played.

PR era had a few

Parade era had more that resulted in what we call the Flesh sessions

SOTT era had some that included Madhouse jam sessions

Lovesexy era put the Aftershows on the map

I've been to many Prince shows but never an aftershow (although I did go to the Gansevoort "aftershow"--but I don't consider that a real aftershow). I'm hoping that with this round of NJ/NY shows, I'll finally be able to say I've been to not only one, but several. But I have to say...the difficulty associated with the aftershows (where they are, how to get in, etc.) is a huge negative. The material played at an aftershow is, in theory, for the fans, but getting into the aftershow is not easy for most fans.

I Much prefer his aftershows to the actual concerts...

The O2 totally spoiled me, £25.00 for a 3hr show with more often than not a relaxed Prince and the band no more than 3ft away..

Keep your ear to the ground and go to an aftershow no matter the cost - if he's there and playing you wont regret it

The second aftershow I saw was in Chicago on April 6, 1993 on the Act I tour. He was doing 3 shows in Chicago and the aftershow was the 2nd night. I went to the first two main shows. 3 shows in 24 hours...I was in Heaven!
