I mean't that i thought it was all Prince's, like i said i didn't know that a sample was used in this song, says nothing about it in the acknowledgments in the booklet! The song would have still been the same with or without it. It's just a word! Prince once tried 2 change his name 2 a symbol so that ur'e mother couldn't find him in the phonebook!

Thanks for solving this mystery. It's also used in a Jean-Michel Jarre track (sounding the same as on Lovesexy), so I wondered where the sound originally came from.

I've known this for a while, but I'll tell you that being a HUGE Zappa fan, the day I found out that the sound in the Prnice songs was off of Uncle Meat I was a little blown away.
Does anyone know if there are any more connections to Prince & Zappa?
I remember reading somewhere I think it was Bobby Z talking about when Prince broke up The Revolution that Prince wanted to get in to music more like Zappa. I don't know if that was Bobby's describing the situation or if Prince was actually influenced in some was by FZ at the time. I could see something like the instrumentation of Play In The Sunshine maybe being influenced by Zappa. "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

Think I found the train sound effect right at the end of CTP, it sounds like the Cabasa Fairlight sample slowed down with added effects...God this sounds really anal...
- did I just mention God & anal in the same sentence?? ..sharmone MF..!

I wouldn't say that it's a Zappa connection more than a Fairlight CMI connection even though the original sample comes from Zappa. When the Fairlight became avaiable to Prince he used the shit out of it, I wouldn't be surprised if he used every preset! I created a Fairlight sample library, keymaped and all, for Native Instruments Kontact sampler and have run across many sounds in many Prince songs. Housequake toms, If I Was Your Girlfriend strings and many others. He was just using the latest and coolest technology at the time like how ATWIAD has the Yamaha DX-7 all over it or Lovesexy has the Roland D-50 all over it. He was just using gear, not specifically tyring to sample Zappa or the guy that created the Fairlight samples dog, yup, La, La, La, He, He, Hee dog bark was the first sample created for the Fairlight library, it was the creators own dog he used. ..."holding someone is truly believing"

COOL! I have always wondered where the "Bizarre" is from. First noticed it after Bob George. Never knew it was on Parade! And it was sort of chanted on All My Dreams. [Edited 11/19/10 12:26pm] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

interesting thread! I can hear it in 1:37 CTP, always thought of it as being a wave sound of water.
Then I jumped to that link, I see a song called Tibet, NEVER heard or read about that. Have to look that 1 up...

If Kore player is compatible with Kontakt 2 Sampler then it should. I would have to look into the Kore player. ..."holding someone is truly believing"
