Milan bootleg is out.....discuss
As you can see, the tracklist isn't anything out of the ordinary, but based on the "Purple Rain" video clip that's been circulating, I decided I'll check out this show as that was a superb performance of that song.
Downloading now, but won't have a chance to listen till later. Anyone listened yet?

Take out the first dozen songs, play full versions of the rest (only two minutes of Let's Work?), and add a few other songs (why not play Lavaux and Sticky Like Glue?) and I'd like this much, much more. | |

I was at the concert in Milan and also have the audio and already listened to it twice. My personal highlights, besides the incredible intense interpretation of Purple Rain, are "If I was your girlfriend", "Little Red Corvette", "Uptown", "Cool" and "Let's Work". | |

Bizarre & flawed set-list; too much 80s songs, too many versions, not enough 90s songs, and I miss the strong tracks of 3121, Lotus or 20Ten

That setlist is seriously flawed and it doesn't make any sense, is this the same guy that repeatedly is shouting "I got so many hits, I can stay here all night, I have so many hits" ... so what does he do? lol, he starts playing hits from other artists. wtf?!?
Anyhow, how about he plays his own gawddamn songs for a change, I don't give a damn if they are hits or not, he has so many other truly great timeless songs to choose from - why doesn't he shove those down my throat instead of all that other crap?
If I could have my way the following songs would be replaced:
- Everyday People (yeah it's a great song, but he's got many great songs himself) - I want to take you higher (same) - Let's go crazy (I just can't stand this song anymore, never liked it much either) - Angel - Nothing Compares 2 U (kinda weak, yeah P. wrote it but to start performing it live only after Sinead got a hit with it? besides I like the original version by The Family the best, that's the one with the "ho ho ho ho ho ho" included. - Cool - U Got the Look - The Bird - Jungle Love - A Love Bizarre (passable I guess)
Ending with Guitar is plain weak, why not end with Days of Wild? That would tear the roof off the mofo!

Still I'm pretty excited to see him perform live again, it has been a while!

BRILLIANT tour, but I don't need the bootleg....
Listening to another bad audience recording is a TOTALLY different experience than being there and experience Prince live:
Forum, Copenhagen 10/10
Herning 8 or 9 /10
You may criticize this setlist,
but seeing the show live.... it was absolutely BRILLIANT.

^ don't be that offensive: I have listened to the Forum, Copenhagen recording,
boots are just not getting me excited no more, only soundboard recordings.
But... the message is: This tour is BRILLIANT, and Prince is in excellent shape, mood whatever it's called....

80% of the audience probably wouldnt know what to make of DOW. Guitar is a great song I dont know why people hate it so much. I never thgpought of it as a show closer but thinking about it now and his recent "rebirth" of giving a damn/being inspired again, it kind of makes sense. He is tearing up the guitar lately so why not?

I like the recent additions of "Uptown" and "Cool", and I'm also glad that "If I Was Your Girlfriend" is back, as that's probably the one hit I don't get tired of, but the main shows generally aren't for me. From the videos I've seen, though, he appears to be re-energized and enjoying himself, and that makes me happy.
The boot is a fantastic-sounding, clear recording. Well done to the taper. | |
