Emancipation

I am making a crystal ball one right now, then i'll do emancipation. Both albums have good stuff but also alot of crap lol

So far on crystal ball, i've got Dream Fsctory, love sign, Ripopgodizippa, The Ride, Interactive, Crucial and i am still trying to figure out what others to put on

I've got playlists on iTunes of the more R&B/Soul type ballads.

those are some amazing picks, especially pink cashmere, one of his best IMO

Odd as it might be, my favorite mix playlist I've done culled from all the 2000s projects. I feel that the 2000s music is so similar from album to album and the sessions were fairly incestuous (see 3121 sessions bleeding into PE and LotusFlower) so they make good mixes.

A lot of the early stuff doesn't sound good on a compilation together. It's mentally jarring to bounce from something off Controversy to something off Graffiti Bridge to something off Emancipation, etc.

I made 2 cdr's of the mess that is the High era recordings. I cheated a bit. one of them has the more funkoriented songs, the other has the rest.

I make "mix tapes" (for other people) and playlists (for myself) all the time.

I made a few over the last -say- 12 years, ever since one's able to burn one's own cd's. It was really fun back then to make with your own alternate artwork / cd-label etc.

I have a few 'xpanded plays':

* Dirty Mind (with extra track Gotta Stop Messin' About) ..... starting off gently .....

* 1999 (with the three B-sides - fits on 1 cd of 80 min by editing just a few secs/pauses)

* Purple Rain (with extra B-sides)

* Purplelectricity (which basically is 1 cd of Around The World containing just the B-sides/extended mixes; America alone is already 21:40 min + both versions of Pop Life)

* Parade 2-cd with extra disc = B-sides/extended mixes

* Sign O' The Times 2-cd (yes just 2 cd's!) with extra tracks on each disc which are the B-sides/extended mixes

* Black Album (!) with extra tracks: SuperFunkyCaliFragiSexy alternate mixes (instrumental + demo + CENSORED version!)

* LoveSexy 2-cd with extra disc = B-sides/extended and alternate mixes

* All Hail To The King = Xpanded Batman = extended mixes (Scandalous 19 min etc.) + B-sides + extra track: unreleased 9 minute original mix on Batdance

* Gett Off: Damn near 10 min mix with original artwork of the limited 12" (cd is on purple wax!)

After that came:

* Purple Xtensions, 5-cd compilation = all 12-inch mixes from the very first one Just As Long As We're Together up till somewhere mid-90's when everything was appearing already on CD with official remix-EP's etc.

* Paisley Flips, 2-cd-set bearing all B-sides (extended were applicable) from the early days

Also, I made Xpanded Plays on:

* Vanity 6 (+ 12"-mix Drive Me Wild)

* Apollonia 6 (+ 12"-mix Sex Shooter + Manic Monday-outtake I believe)

* Madhouse 2-cd set with B-sides and 12" mixes

Back in those days, I recorded and transferred everyting from vinyl to the PC, editing the scratches, pumping up volumes and upgrading sound - pwoh, it was hard work and I made very long hours. Since then, some of them have appeared on official compilations, but we're still waiting on Prince releasing his own Xpanded versions or Deluxe Editions (once the contracts are free) - that could potentially be every fan's wet dream.
