Classic! It's a purple classic! I love the song. The video is cool also. All of those videos from that era was cool. The lyrics is off the hook! The music is great and Dez solo is great! The "Dance Mix" is great! I love when Prince and The Revolution performed that version in early 1983. That was cool 2 hear! Great song.

I was doing TV back then, and since MTV was new, the young guys on the production staff would switch our monitors to that station between newscasts. I'd be getting ready to do my weather "pre-feed" to our affiliates...and there'd be Prince, doing his Corvette thang.

I'm lucky I was able to get my shit together enough to go on the air. All that drool just destroyed my lipstick.

This is the first song I ever heard of prince when I was like 8 - 9 years old. and I had NO idea what the song was really about xD so I would go around the house and sing it ALL day! hahah I drove my parents crazy, but they seemed 2 laugh everytime I sang that song. I tought I was a bad singer... haha so when I got older and FOUND out what the song was about, ( I was like 12 I think) I went like; EeeeeeeeeeeeEEeeeeeeeeew! so then I knew why they laughed so much -.-

Now it's more like "mmmmmmmmmmmmm:luv:" eveytime when I listen 2 it. and not "ew" HELL NAW!

i went on a road trip mini vacation to gettysburg without my ipod of prince i saw 4 or 5 red corvettes. i kept cracking up clapping and singing the song. only one other of my friends present was into prince....

This was one of my earlier loves of Prince!! I had NO IDEA what it was all about and good thing since I was so young singing it. I'm surprised at how many people still don't know what it is really about, shows they aren't really listening to the lyrics. I kind of cringe when my nieces/nephews sing it, but they are clueless right now! Its my favorite off of 1999!!! It has such a current sound, I blast it to this day!

Yeah, both of those are wonderful. My favorite version is from one of the Nude tour shows, though.
