now when orgers talk about prince i dont feel bad

because aleast they've taking the time out to listen his music and give him try at least

but it hurts me when people who dont even know more than two prince songs and or dont even try to listen to his music talk bad about him

then try to say so&so is better then prince ....how the hell can you compare and u dont even listen to prince!!!???

i dont know why i feel personally attacked but i do ...i wish i couldnt give a damn but in this situation i do

Never happened 2 me ever since hi skool. People might not b in2 Prince's music, but they all have respect 4 his work. Maybe u should consider NOT getting around truck drivers, they're the only non-fans left criticizing Prince

They are missing out.

You can't convert people into fans, they either want to try or not...and who are we to try to make them? If they give purple music a chance, there is enough substance in his music where they may want to stay.

I get a feeling that you are a youngster, as they seem to be the ones who feel that way.

I'm getting old now, and frankly, don't give a shit what people think of my taste in music.

a little. then again im in highschool, so theres gonna be people who talk bad bout him, espcially bc they only know him by loooking at his appearence and not his music.

ima junior now in highschool, and damn i know better than to bring prince up as a fan. i did this in 9th grade and my nickname was little red corvette for the rest of the year. luckily ppl have forgotten bout that nickname. but honestly i think people just cant get past his appearence which is annoying as fuck.

Well if they say some inaccurate stuff then I'd correct them but no I'm not offended if people criticize him or any other music I like, it's just their taste. You should only feel bad if they attack you for liking Prince. You really can't convert anyone if they already made up their mind so discussing "the music I like is better than yours" is quite a moot point.

No. Saying so-and-so is better than Prince is NOT talking bad, it is just musical taste.

Then again, it hurts to not have my own taste recognized as valid. So when the attacks are really attacks, and not just difference in musical prefeernces, then it can feel personal, I guess.

i dont feel personally attacked when anyone talks bad about prince, but my finer senses can be easily offended by the manner in which they talk bad.

as for non-prince fans mouthing off, they're probably only doing it because they want their favorite artist to be better. makes them look good.

its just what people do, mouth off, without knowing anything about what they're saying.

I don't feel attacked I just say, I think Prince is a great musician, you should listen to "....."

Based on what they say and how, I also know immediately whether we have anything in common. That's a plus.

to hell with them, they are missing out on some of the greatest music ever made:-)

what annoys me is when people are talking bad about Prince's old masterpiece albums:

a very popular danish DJ Henrik Milling on danish national radio P3, once called Lovesexy an unfocused jam session (something like that) and Prince's biggest flop, with only 1 good song (Alphabet Street), he then played 2 songs to show "how bad this album is" - and those 2 songs were I Wish U Heaven and When 2 R In Love

(damn I just those songs!)

this guy, Henrik Milling is no Prince fan, I think his biggest idols (the ones that he always are talking positive about) are:

Michael Jackson and The Fresh Prince of Bellair aka Will Smith....

What I am trying to say with this is that it is very annoying (to me).. when the media people are talking bad about Prince. but never mind, in general Prince really gets positive comments in Denmark (very positive these days)...

But back then, a few years back, I wrote this guy an angry email, calling him "Prince's worst enemy", and I wrote the Lovesexy album - despite low sales in US (something he pointed out in the radio) it actually went to #1 in the UK and sold very well in other European countries too... and Lovesexy to me is a beautiful masterpiece,

lol.... this was maybe not the wisest thing I have ever done - sending this email to a DJ, but it felt good.

i gotta share a condo with my mom who just doesn't "get " him.i hate when ppl judge someone without ever listening to more then hit singles on the radio. so glad my dad says prince is amazing and he loves trust and 1999 alot

At least half the time, my Sweetie calls Prince the "tinyass bitch." As in, "I heard Prince four times today. Every time I'm away from you, all XM plays is that tinyass bitch."

Well, if they didn't do anything personally to you, saying you hate someone's music is a very strong statement to make. "Can't stand it" is different.
