Matt Thorne - Gigolos Get Lonely Too - Prince A History After triping over this article .... I would like to know if any orgers have read this publication from Loops and is it worth going out to buy?
http://www.loopsjournal.c...amp;aid=42
Matt Thorne is engaged in an epic survey of Prince’s thirty-year output (the first of its kind) and the essay featured here examines, uncovers and celebrates a half-decade of lunatic levels of song-writing, producing and performing. In 1983 Jackson shared a stage with Prince for the only time at a James Brown gig at the Apollo (YouTube) Jackson’s performance is slick and sublime. Prince responds with sick squeals and a guitar solo so awful it has prompted debate about his psychotropic intake at the time. Perhaps the crowning irony of these parallel, yin-yang careers is that Jackson crumbled and finally expired in preparation for an improbable fifty-night residency at O2. Prince’s legendary twenty-one nights and aftershows in 2007 live on in bootleg form

Wrong! Do some research... Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Firstly, he never wrote "shared the stage for the first time." He wrote "shared the stage for the only time. Secondly, it did happen. But i am not 100% sure it was at the Apollo. The Vault book states that it occured at The Beverly Theatre in L.A. However James Brown invited MJ on stage and MJ whispered to JB that Prince was in the audience and that he should be invited to the stage. Prince was then carried to the stage on the shoulders of Chick Huntsberry. Prince played a short guitar part, and then did a short dance. Prince then leaned on a stage prop streetlamp which fell over. Prince then left the concert.

My fault for mistaking "first" for "only". :eyeroll: And, I've seen the clip. Many a time. I'm not new. See above.

Sorry. Got a little defensive after three people telling me I don't know what I'm talking about.

At 13/42/49/08 MJ walks through the background while Prince takes the guitar, my young Padawan [Name calling snip - luv4u], thus creating that mythical moment where they share the same stage.
But anyway, who cares. James Brown is dead, MJ is dead, and Prince has been musically dead for some fifteen years. Stop the Prince Apologists ™

i remember that video. prince was drunk wasnt he?
can we get any confirmation on whether it was at the apollo or beverly?
anyway, i think its great there was at least ONE moment in time when they both stood on the same stage at the same time
some might say they shared it, but it didnt seem to me that prince was willing to 'share' it with anyone lol
michael and james on the other hand were professionals at that point,
giving the little man a chance to strut his drunkness was very gracious of both of them this too shall pass

And that show was not at the Apollo. Im not sure where, but it was definitely in LA. Read about it way back in the late 80s in James Brown's biography.
And I saw the video too...I dont know if he was drunk or high, but he was definitely on something that night.
