I don't have an issue with this idea, as unrealistic as it is, but what the hell is up with your setlist and band line up? You added track times? And randomly put Vernon Reid in the band? Quite the imagination you go there, kid.

prince only plays with real muscians. to tour with U2 would make him a hippocrite "Sisters and brothers in the purple underground, find peace of mind in the pop sound!"

Prince stopped being an opening act in 1980. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

So U2 aren't real musicians? If you say so.

Prince doesn't tour with talent.

^ no , he was just stating that they aren't good musicians which is right;
the edge's playing sounds the same in all their songs , as does the bass and drums
they are only capable of doing one style
they're boring
and boner is a pompous twat [Edited 10/17/10 9:09am]

Well, you read the post, have to give you Kudos.
I just made them out of thin air based on how long the studio songs are, and how I would treat them if I were Prince. I imagined some improv on some, and some extended portions with extra keyboard or guitar solos, etc... Some are right on the money with the studio time, as at one point, I had the times memorized for over 100 Prince songs. I was a sick addicted fanatic. Of course, I have memorized things on Prince, U2, Stevie Wonder, MJ, etc...If I like an Artist, I go overboard.
By the way Dewrede, Much better comment than the brain dead who call the post garbage. You are reading the actual post...and it is fine that you don't agree with my question....but for some of you.... If the post is garbage, then why swim in garbage? You can always use your time wisely and go to the GOOD posts that are all over the org, and use your higher intelligence there.

Yes, Prince only has LEGENDARY musicians in his band. Tony M, and Kirk Johnson are about the best possible personal he could have had in the band. Kirk J, in fact, was a better Drummer than Larry Mullen Jr, Buddy Rich, and Kenny Aronoff put together. Kat Dyson has to be a better guitarist than Hendrix and Clapton combined. Yes Prince could never stoop so low as to be near U2, considering the level of musicians he has had in his own band.
Sorry to be Bart Like...but learn to spell MUSICIANS before trying to pretend to know which ones are real.

I had a pipe dream that Prince would try to have the best band possible, and as far as the track times, I simply used my imagination. I am a songwriter, bad actor, and have written a few articles here and there. I have spent long hours studying Prince and U2's career, and fancy myself as a bit of an expert.
My only two big pet peeves: Those who think Prince Roger Nelson wrote "Anna Stasia." In reality, Prince ROGERS Neslon wrote "Anna STESIA."

Prince is not bigger than U2 or the Beatles. NO WAY its even close!! He's not even on the level of Elvis or Michael Jackson, well I guess you should probally reverse u2 and Michael in this comparison though
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
well musically he's certainly better then any of them except perhaps the beatles

That would be a GREAT show though but Prince would really have to bring it or U2 would smoke him BAD!! U2 puts on one hell of a show!! I caught the Lenny and Aerosmith tour a few years ago. Lenny is fantastic live!! He really can rock!! Aerosmith and Kiss tour was fantastic too when Kiss opened for Aerosmith. They should do more pairings with big names together. They really do make great shows. Daivid Lee Roth and Hagar was excellent as well. I missed the Hagar/Aerosmith show last month. I hope these types of pairings catch on!!

Nobody said Prince was bigger. I am suggesting Prince OPEN for U2 for Bart's uh...I mean Fuck's sake. I think this would be a great way for mainstream audiences to know Prince is still alive. And with the setlist and band in my post, it would smoke U2 off the stage. I did say that I think that Prince is BETTER than U2 and the Beatles combined. NOT BIGGER> Hell...Bono may be 5"8, but Prince is 5"3. Ok, dumb joke, but those who actually read the post know what I am talking about....and Elvis???? The guy never wrote ONE SINGLE NOTE of music, his guitar playing was so bad that the parts he played were overdubbed in post production by real guitar players.
The whole point of this post was to make a point that by making drastic career moves, Prince could actually generate interest in his future releases, and back catalog by doing something nobody would expect. Right now, his masters are nearly worthless...other than Purple Rain and 1999, nobody is asking for any remasters. Warners is sitting on them, and as time goes by, nobody will even care anymore. If Prince were to do something to generate some real interest in him, maybe the masters would increase in value. At this point, nobody is begging for a remastered Come album or even For You at this point.

like someone else sa did, opening for someone else may diminish his brand. And the mainstream media knows he's alive, superbowl performance was just a few years ago, cochella was just two years ago.

Like most of yours , EireBitch34 ..... What's the point in coming here Twice a Day When you sincerely think Prince became irrelevant with Batman ?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don`t know how old you are, but Prince as you know is 52. He is one of the few remaining superstars of the 80ies. You know the rest ( grammys, oscar, million records sold)... His ego is very big too.... How do you think he should open for U2????? He headlines concerts all around the world... I was at werchter with more than 50 000 people in the audience....roskilde even more! It`s true he probably ( remember 21 nights in London) can`t sell out a huge worlwide stadium tour, but to play like a newcomer as an act before U2 is just a crazy idea
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It would be a GREAT idea!!! Prince might become relevant again if he toured with a knockout tour machine like U2. It might even inspire him to play good songs again.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i think there is more chance of u2 opening for prince....come on...prince has just been voted the 7th greatest music act of all time...well ahead of u2....in terms of lasting legacy....prince is one of the greats...i like u2 but in no way do they compare to prince....prince aint opening to anyone.....and i think that prince isnt that far behind u2 in concert gross overall...u2 always play stadiums....prince doesnt but he has done far more concerts than u2 so i dont think their is much between them...remember the musicology 2004 tour was the biggest grossing tour of the year.....and prince would have taken a far bigger personnal chunk of that than u2 would ever get because they are still tied to the record company and mass media who will be taking their large cut.......its a silly thread....sorry...
