Was that the Apollo threatre? I recall this statement as Prince spoke on the Tavis Smiley show. He went on to say he felt like Jack Johnson then. I am not certain but does anyone here know when Prince first performed at the Apollo?

I believe the first time Prince played at the Apollo was March 27, 1993. It was a benefit for underprivileged youth. I think when he said he was turned down, he was referring to the record industry at the time, before he had released any albums.
