The question I have is where Prince's head was at around that time, I can't imagine what it would've been like for his family, who had heard some risque stuff on the first 2, to listen to "Dirty Mind" and not have jaws dropping over what he was singing.
If it is a sister, odds are he wrote her off back then, and never heard from her again.
Maybe HE didn't... but maybe someone who listened to that song DID!

I was thinking this was a half sister or sister by marriage...

I know. she has a few (well at least one) album too. But he had a sister 16 years older than he is (she passed away). Her age more than anything points to the song being about her. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |
