Piano medley- pisses me off I really dig it when its just prince and a piano. My complaint is that I hate just hearing pieces of songs, I was pretty stoked when I got one night alone, but when I found out that most of the trax were just short takes I was pretty disappointed. I was really looking forward to hearing those trax. I am totaly aware that he does that all the time because i have lots of bootleged shows but I thought for his first live album he would complete most of the trax. I know people who are big fans were not to surprised, ( I saw the tour this past year and he did the typical medley) but people who dont like him as much as us fanatics, might think its corny or wont understand why he cut those songs so short.I am very satisfied with the release but I just wanted to know what someone else thinks.

I totally agree with you. I love the solo and when he plays the piano. Wish he would consider making more of them. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

I thought it was a mistake to include this as well .I think the piano-medleys are "had to be there " kinda things, and sort of frustrating to listen to at home. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."

This whole set leans far too heavy on the piano medley to
only do 1:00 minute snippets of the songs imo. Disc 2 is 2/3 piano medley and everytime you get into a song it is cut short and another one enters. I don't know about others, but I hate that. I've listened to the medley 3 times and don't play it anymore at all. In fact, I don't listen to the entire set anymore. It is a cool release, but it feels lacking. Either disc should have had at least 1 more 'crowdpleaser'. NOT for so called commercial reasons, but simply for better flow. Nothing omitted, because what's on there is cool, but just one or two more songs per disc. And some songs with a bit of a punch. "Sign O The Times", "Money Don't Matter 2Nite", on the concert discs and trax like "Something In The Water" and "Bambi", "Dolphin", "Calhoun Sq" on the aftershow disc. Or at least put more complete songs in the medley. Ok, it's a MEDLEY, I get it. But it still sucks to have him go into some of those beautiful songs and cut them short. Like the butchery of "The Beautiful Ones". [This message was edited Thu Jan 30 2:30:56 PST 2003 by IstenSzek] and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yes, the full version of The Beautiful Ones in Europe was way better. But I still listen to it, of course. Why not?

Heh, when I saw the title of this thread I thought you meant you didn't like the piano medleys at gigs. Coz to be honest, that's how I feel
Don't kill me yet. The thing is, I'm not a woman. And as great as some of Prince's ballads are, I don't necessarily want Prince singing them at me. Guitar medleys fine, soulful piano stuff, fine, but I'd prefer it if he skipped the romantic stuff... and keep it funky. Ian PS I realise I'm probably the only person who feels this way ...

They won't understand that he can't play 100 songs in 3 hours? And he did play some of them fully And it is a "medley"..I dont understand where the failure in communication is. "Climb in my fur."

I don't mind occasionally, but 2/3 of the second CD is too much!. I want to hear something that everyone can enjoy. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com
