Why does it have to be "black music?"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Agree with your last sentence, except the "black music" part. No, they don't have to play "black music" aka various types of music, commonly associated with black culture, based on society's standards or assumptions, but not limited to" so-to-speak. There is absolutely no limit to what types of music, musicians who happen to be "Black" can play, and Prince, along with many other musicians of African/Black-American descent, have already proven that. So I expect, we will hear various styles of music, from each performer. Remember, all of us don't like the same cake flavor. [Edited 10/15/10 13:49pm]

This announcement is all very vague but from what it sounds like this isn't going be just a few shows in December, its going to go on for months and months...hopefully.

What happened to his nose? it looks crooked a la Owen Wilson? did he get a bad nosejob recently? I've never seen his nose look like that before!
About the lineup, why does he always include nobodies we don't give a fuck about, why not include The Artist Formerly Known As Terence Trent D'arby, Hall & Oates (they are amazing live), Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Steve Vai, Lee Ritenour, George Benson, Larry Carlton, and comedian Lewis Black (he attacks religion) instead of Sinbad. [Edited 10/15/10 16:15pm] [Edited 10/15/10 16:16pm]

YESSSS! THe Artist Formerly Known As Terence Trent D'arby. Bring him from Italy. That's where he currently lives, right?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
he's organized some gigs for his friends and musicians he enjoys in the hope other people might enjoy it too
whilst a press conference to announce it might seem unnecessary and over the top, its a good way to bring attention to the shows
yes he does live in a bubble, but let him. he's institutionalized now, any world outside his own may be too daunting for him
he's comfortable where he is, and i hope he and all involved have a good time doing what they love, and that the people who attend will enjoy it too.
this too shall pass | |

Well said. Three questions: Did he take any questions or, just toddle off after his 'speech'? How many reporters/journalists showed up? And re: the MJ thing, has he ever worn glasses like that before?

Cassandra Wilson a great Jazz singer. This should be interesting.

i dont know the answers to the first two questions, and i dont know if he has ever worn those glasses before
but either way, he'll never see the world through michael jacksons eyes, or george michaels lol
prince lives with his own perspective, only time will tell if it ever syncs up with anyone elses. this too shall pass

it's called a shadow. Jeez. maybe it's people YOU don't give a fuck about. i think it is good he is boosting lesser know acts that are good (except Sinbad). I've seen all those cats and LoVE them...but I don't need to be introduced to them

Reasonable proof that Prince rocked the aviator look before MJ ever did:

Find me a picture of Michael wearing those shades before Prince's Dirty Mind era ('80-'81)

He was wearing it since summertime, before he went to the European tour/on the European tour 2010. There are pics with him and Bria and I think Shelby wearing those glasses.

Yesterday I received an email..Special A list announcement with this picture of Prince from the Apollo Theater. I'm on their mailing list for upcoming shows and events. There's an Apollo Theater in Minneapolis that I've been to and I like being notified for music shows.
The picture in the email looks exactly like this. I didn't see a response to the above question. I tried to copy and paste the email but something prevents me from posting it. I'm not sure why or what I'm doing wrong, but the picture is exactly the same. There were a few details about fans who wanted to come and join the press conference, times, the adress etc.
Subject: TONIGHT - Prince at the Apollo PRINCE AT THE APOLLO THEATER! will make a rare appearance in New York for a special announcement to the media. He would like to invite his fans from the New York area to join him when he makes the announcement.

It really doesn't even matter who wore them first. Michael "owned" those sunglasses. That's why several people in this thread and the other one have wondered why Prince decided to wear "MJ's glasses" in the first place, lol. Plus, of all the millions of clothes and shades Prince could have chosen from, he didn't have to pick an outfit that similar to what MJ wore last year anyway. Oh ffs with these MJ comparisons! You deluded MJ deciples are so scared of Prince's power of being more talented etc that you try so hard to keep Skeletor on top in your never land mind! Prince has copied no ones look, Prince looks cool, stylish and in glasses billions of people wear. MJ looked like a sick tranny who could barely talk.....who then "rehearsed" a terrible rehash show where he jerked and moved like something from Jacobs Ladder. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. Prince is too talented to be put in the same league. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream
