Would Prince have become more of a rock god or more of a respected musician even more in his own prime-time if he had given up the loverman extremes? Did the sex extremes allow his music to recieve the attention more than if he had not used them? hell..does the sex extremees give the music that vibe or would it be the same without it?

I think that there is something about Prince that goes way beyond the topic of sex. Every song he has written not only covers your topic here, it covers every drop of human emotion that there is.

I think he would have become more of a respected musician. On the other hand, would he have gotten the same attention? Probably not.

The sexuality of his music and lyrics are pure. You cannot have the intensity without it.

It's all that non-fans remember him for. Kinda sad, but at least it made him money, making it possible for him to continue and do even greater things.

I think it just couldn't be because it's such a Big Part of his Personality. Prince is a Very Sexual Man. But I do think that if the Sex wasn't there then maybe People woulda listened more to the Spiritual Messages he wished to Parlay to the World. The Sex Part Overshadowed everything else about who and what Prince is really About. But if the Sex wasn't there then I guess we wouldn't be Staring at his Penis or his Ass in clothes. I think he used his Sexuality to Sell his Music to a Point. Definitely in the Beginning of his Career. I always said Prince would be the Hotest,Sexiest Whore/Slut if he was a Woman. i actually think this is a good question...i think a LOT of ppl who would have really dug his music couldn't get past his blatant sexuality...because of homophobia or whatever...it stopped them being open to his musicianship

It's such a part of the equation with him, it's hard to imagine the music & his aura without it. I imagine if people didn't have his sexuality to contend with they would have been more focused on the music. Shame that people get so distracted by his image... then again (for example) as good as Christina Aguilera's voice is I don't try to find out if her music is any good b/c she strikes me as such a silly pop skank. Unfair, yup...

Not comparing the two of course, but image does play a part. The subject matter you sing about plays a part. With Prince it just couldn't be helped, he's a sensual mf. At least it was never a crutch in his case & he always had the talent to shut down detractors. I dunno, I'm just saying the shit everybody already knows...

I personally think that as sexy as he is, it would be hard not to characterize him as the "loverman". But if I were to really try... and I mean REALLY TRY... to erase that... He would be a respected musician.
