Really Really couldn't stand the look...took me a while to listen to the album...not the best but Man 'O' war is one of his best ballads of the 90's in my opinion and loooove Greatest Romance... ..song and video. For the first time he add actual sizzilling sexual chemistry with his on-screen leading lady.

The Rave Un2 The Year 2000 concert was broadcast as an In Demand pay per view US TV special on New Years Eve 1999. The show reached about 56,000 homes. It was re-broadcast by VH-1 on March 4th 2000.

Prince's concert footage was filmed at Paisley Park on December 18th 1999, while the performance by The Time was filmed the day before.

At the start of prince's performance, he came on stage and played Lets Go Crazy, She's Always In My Hair followed by U Got The Look, then Prince and band suddenly left the stage. Prince re-appeared and informed the audience that they were having technical difficulties. Music was played over the p.a for 20 minutes before Prince shouted "rewind" and restarted the show from scratch.

The show actually lasted almost 4 hours, with the band taking breaks after every few songs and inbetween Larry's set of Sly covers.

Then the whole lot was edited down and The Time's footage included to make it seem like a seamless 132 minute show.

It was finally released on home video on 5th June 2000.

Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic is a special edition "remix" version of the Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic album. It was only available to members of Prince's online music club the NPGMC.

Two tracks from the original album were left off the album, Strange But True and Everyday Is A Winding Road, while one track, Beautiful Strange, was added.

Thanks for the background, I wasn't a dedicated fan then, But I remember seeing some of this, just didn't have the spark that I remember of Prince

^ Indeed, a more focused straightforward Prince and the NPG show would have been more enjoyable imo. No set by The Time, no Larry's Sly covers, no promo video footage, just Prince and band doing their thing.

I listened to this album the other day.

"rave...." could have been a distintive rock anthem and he chose to tame it down.

Then had no real message/theme.

Even though it wasn't full yet, 2 hear the Lovesexy Aftershow rendition vs the 1999yr version is a bit sad

The original Rave should have been released back then, with Sheila E and the band it would have had a different energy

That is a cool ad. I like how it states that it is "in concert new years eve 1999," when it was in fact recorded on the 17th and 18th December.
