I would love to see P collaborate with WB on an extensive all around best of box set with stuff on it even from post WB projects like Musicology, 3121, The Rainbow Children, & 20ten, with also hits from The Time, Vanity/Apollonia 6. Remastered of course. But I think this is 2 good 2 B true

I would love to get some tips from experienced orgers on the technicalities of creating your own box set on the computer... Specifically, about what format to save in (mpg vs. lossless, for instance), tweaking sound settings, the best software, etc. What did you do, squirrelgrease?

I used a stand-alone CD-Audio Recorder component hooked up to my stereo system for direct digital to digital copying and recording vinyl through the analog inputs. I still have one of these, but using a computer now is easier for various reasons.

If you want to make physical CD-Rs, lossless is a must, unless there is no other source available such as the NPGMC tracks. All you need is a CD reader/writer, enough hard drive space, ripping and burning software and your choice of apps for leveling the sound. Taking your loudest songs and your quietest songs and meeting somewhere in the middle across the set is a good compromise with less of a chance for distortion on the quieter tracks.

Software used depends on your OS and platform of choice, but there are plenty of free apps for everything you'll need.

To save on optical drive wear and tear (I've already burned two drives out this past year), it's often more convenient to just use torrent sites to get the songs you already own onto your computer. Basically, someone ripped your music for you this way - no harm, no fowl nor moral dilemma.

I used a stand-alone CD-Audio Recorder component hooked up to my stereo system for direct digital to digital copying and recording vinyl through the analog inputs. I still have one of these, but using a computer now is easier for various reasons.

If you want to make physical CD-Rs, lossless is a must, unless there is no other source available such as the NPGMC tracks. All you need is a CD reader/writer, enough hard drive space, ripping and burning software and your choice of apps for leveling the sound. Taking your loudest songs and your quietest songs and meeting somewhere in the middle across the set is a good compromise with less of a chance for distortion on the quieter tracks.

Software used depends on your OS and platform of choice, but there are plenty of free apps for everything you'll need.

To save on optical drive wear and tear (I've already burned two drives out this past year), it's often more convenient to just use torrent sites to get the songs you already own onto your computer. Basically, someone ripped your music for you this way - no harm, no fowl nor moral dilemma.
