It made me - because I knew exactly what he meant. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

As a 9 year old i wasnt shocked.. I was like this is cool

Oh I knew what he meant but it was like one of the first times if not THE first time I heard..audio/aural porn? And it had a good beat ("and it was easy to dance to" lol). |

I started with the IWBYL single. Then skipped DM but fell into Contorversy by fmailial osmosis...and 1999 "kilt' it..my future was destined. But with Controversy and Th e Time is when I popped my DM cherry. |

Agreed this was quite the shocking line back in the day - the original bad boy! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U

No way is he the orignal bad boy but he took it to a level in 1980. A new ribald king of the lascivious was born...new king or new Gypsy Rose Lee, Lady Godiva....and the punk of it ws like those who were making one off short songs in a punk vein were bare chested. Prince as per his usual self took it to another level by not only taking his shirt off but also his pants lol. And had that not only as his concert wardrobe ..(hell even Pfunk at leasthad a diaper ) but as his album cover as well. I don't think folks understand how (fill in blank) that was and still IS TO THIS DAY. |

He is telling a story, and when he gets to the part about her whipping him, he says, "...she took a whip to me until I'd shout...'Oh sister muthafucka, muthafucka can't u understand?!'" He's telling us what he'd scream to her. "Get up off that grey line" |

Hmmm. Interesting. Thanks for that. I never knew those lyrics were "she took a whp to me until I'd shout." That makes sense then. But why would he tell her "can't you understand?" I'm not doubting you though. |

I guess it's "can't you understand I don't want to be your sex slave?" LOL "Get up off that grey line" |
