They are friends and she and her band has been to Paisley Park to jam with Prince and his band, according to reports posted here not too long ago and on other sites.

Also, according to sources who posted the info here and on other sites, Prince was the one who picked the female artists to perform his songs at the BET Awards. Prince looked like he enjoyed and was pleased by Patti, Esperanza and Janelle performing his songs that night.
