on what does this song configuration appear?

Original versions were strung together like this. Not sure of the time but maybe (88ish?) Prince gave away Girl of My Dreams to some faux rapper and used updated but less inspired versions of Cant Stop and We can Funk on Grafitti Bridge.

Would kill for a clean mix of these.

1986

Pristine versions of this trio were released recently on the FBG release Box of Chocolates.

While we're on the subject... who was the deaf bastard with the garden pruners that spliced that audio mess together during the end credits of the film Purple Rain?

I actually love the way the songs are cut together at the end of PR. Parade is chock fulla excellent segues. So are 1999 and PR.

That Was Prince nod

Fargnoli says so on the DVD commentary. I LOVE that rough cut/paste job. Listen again SG.. there is definately method in his madness - especially the part where 'When Doves Cry' kicks in. It gives me goose bumps everytime.

Go listen! loudly!

Michaelangelo Matos, who wrote this book about Sign o' the Times, couldn't stop raving about the transition from 'Starfish and Coffee' to 'Slow Love'.

I can't say that transition made any particular impression on me, but I thought it was sort of interesting, the way he kept going on about it...

[EDIT: my (unasked for) vote for best transition between two songs by anyone: 'Girls' into 'Fight For Your Right to Party' by the Beastie Boys. headbang]

Doesn't that embarrass every time you watch?

Why not just spool the title track . . .?
