Ummm, NO.
Prince did not invent this phrase... It's been around for ages, saying someone is a "looker" or "She's got the look" and in fact there was even a movie made in 1981 called "Looker" with a theme song built around the phrase:
"She's a looker with a beautiful face. She's got the look, yeah, she has it made..."
Where has "Erotic City" been used in common vernacular???
Prince, also, didn't invent the phrase 'nasty girl', he just used it in a song.

Videophone-beyonce(Prince said videophone in the song "Now") million dollar girl tempo(early '80s prince tempo.) Automatic-Tokio Hotel(Automatic-Prince) Peaches and Cream-112(Prince made two songs called "Peach" and another called "Cream"
Etc...etc... the list goes on.

I've never heard anyone use the phrase "Glam Slam" outside of the Prince community. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I use, which is not exactly the same of course "Secretary formerly known as..." because they make me feel like a slave !!!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes I know all about Susan Dey in Looker. Prince "popularized" the phrase as it's commonly used today; ditto for Nasty Girl.
Put Erotic City into a Google search; you'll see plenty of non-Prince.
Also, nobody "invents" words; somewhere someone has used almost all combinations of words; it's about who brought it into the mainstream.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Okay, put Glam Slam into a search engine.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
What? Prince did not popularize any of this stuff. Why are you lying about it? What parts of Erotic City? None that I can see. You love making this shit up, lmao.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Okay. I'll bite. Let's see....
I see Glam Slam wikipedia which only refers to the song, I see the Access Hollywood and Yahoo references to a "glam slam". I see a website devoted to sports and fashion called "A Glam Slam" and then a myspace with with "Glam Slam" as the title, but it's definitely not referential to Prince.
Oh, and I'm 28 years old. So I've been growing up in the time that this phrase would be used. I've lived in Baltimore, DC, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and San Francisco.
I've never, not once, heard "glam slam" outside of the Prince community. If you can provide some kind of context and proof, please do. Bear in mind that you must adhere to your rules and it has to be a part of the vernacular, not a tongue in cheek reference to a celebrity that people would pick out (aka naming a sherbet Raspberry Sorbet - that is not vernacular, its marketing).

I really honestly don't care what you think.

"Read all this about me" from this post? It isn't about you. It's about the fact you are pulling stuff out of your ass that isn't legit. LOL.

Close, but not quite correct.
Until they started shooting Purple Rain, all motorcycle wheels were rectangular in shape, usually square.
As you can imagine, riding them was very uncomfortable.
After a few rehearsals of the opening scene, Prince suggested that they make the wheels of the motorcycle round, instead.
The scene was eventually shot in one take. The other motorcycle scenes went off without a hitch, though many have since lamented that the scenes with Apollonia riding on the back were a lot less jigglier than planned in the original screenplay.
Anyway, the whole round thing caught on after the movie came out. The rest is history.
