This is good news? Prince refused to pay someone until legal action was taken.

All of this could have been avoided if he would have paid it in the 1st place!

at least he won't be 'dragged' to court & prince homepage news looks more positive

I don't follow that logic, nor do I find it has anything to do with the reality of the situation. Prince avoided further litigation by paying money that was owed. If he was never threatened with such a lawsuit he most likely would not have paid. Sounds like Prince is a shady business man and not someone who should be championed or congratulated for these types of resolutions.

Well he got paid...Im sure Prince had every intention to pay him. There was probably good reasons why he stalled with payments to this lawyer and only Prince knows and thats his business.

BUT, I have to assume that those defending Prince, or even giving him the benefit of the doubt, are unaware that he has a history of non-payment, going back decades.

How anyone who knows this history can still defend him boggles the mind.

I have heard the stories...I just believe there are 2 sides to every story and I tend not to believe everything negative about people. Ex employees can be spiteful and lie alot. Plus, history doesn't automatically make him guilty. I just like to give folks, especially Prince, the benefit of the doubt....call me foolish, but I tend to take his side almost always

On the Jam of the Year Tour, Prince had this nice bus with Horses painted on it. I figured Prince owned it. I happend to talk to the driver, and he said the company that owned the bus was on the verge of taking it, as they had never been paid, and the driver himself said he hadn't received a check in a few weeks. Not that I can confirm this, but 50% Of the former Prince employees I talk to all talk fondly of Prince unless money comes up.

It is not about groveling maybe some of us are more concerned with our own finances instead of worrying over someone else's and believing gossip from protégées and band mates who must have known of his rep and where to stupid to get paid front or at least get their name on some publishing. In addition, if this website is going to report the bad news then the good news should be reported as well sorry this upsets you.

I'm not talking about ex-employees. I'm talking about video companies, equipment rentals, etc... But, okay, we'll throw the employees in there too if you like.

It's not about believe something negative about him. He owed money, he got sued, he paid... what's not to believe?

As a lawyer I deal with these type of folks every day. Somehow they believe they are entitled to screw people over any day. There is only thing that can keep them in check: litigation. oh yeah, then they will pay.

Prince is just one of those shady folks.

Exactly.Some folks on this thread need to google the January 1995 article "Purple Drain" which appeared in the St.Paul Pioneer Press.Prince has a loooonnnnggggg history of not paying bills on time,mismanaging money and spending recklessly.

As I said, people tend to spread lies and all of a sudden, everyone believes it! The history of people lying AND going to court over the lies has taught me to to believe everything you hear. Just because it's on the news and everyone believes it doesn't make it fact. And just because someone sues you and you pay doesn't mean you are guilty. Perhaps you just want the crap settled! I can think of a very famous case of "settling to avoid drama and even though you aren't guilty!" So yes, I'm giving Prince the benefit of the doubt. Plus, what celeb on Prince's level pays their own bills? Someone else does that for them, so why blame him for a mistake his PA probably made?

OK, so what if I take Prince's side over the vultures? In all honesty, non of us know the full details! So I choose to believe him since I have seen many times of people lying on celebs to get money. And all it takes it 1 person to start the lie then everyone else wants to follow suit and cash in. I'm not throwing Prince under a bus just because you want to! I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt always. It kills me how people are so quick to believe every rumor they hear! Not me, I don't care if it's on the tv or in the newspaper, it still could all be a rumor! And if you're a lawyer, then you know all about LIES and unwarranted lawsuits!
