He already went back and did Im Yours (which wasn't exactly on a wish list but still appreciated), Empty Room a few years back, the holy grail of Large Room No Light and now even Purple Music even if it was just a portion. I think he may know what fans are feenin' for and he has to know folks love Moonbeam Levels.

Anything's possible. I personally am not a fan of that song at all, but if I heard Prince do it live, my opinion could very well change. That has happened to me before with a handful of songs.

I've always loved Moonbeam Levels - along w/ in all my dreams it's my favorite widely circulating unreleased track.

I always thought it would have been a great single... would have been a beautiful fit on ATWIAD.

I'd love for it to be dusted off and played. Better yet, release the damn song

Funny, the same thought occured to me recently. The recent live performance of Purple Music (and All Day All Night) made me think that Prince is definitely checking out his Vault material, and Moonbeam Levels would make sense.

Hell, I say his next album should be called Moonbeam Levels.

(on a side note, Jerry Brown could use the track in his run for Governor. His detractors call him "Governor Moonbeam". I like the track and Jerry Brown, but enough of my political views.)

I've heard Moonbeam levels once but I couldn't stop thinking of old sega games. lol. I know. I know. I like the song still. Is it technically a ballad?

I think it would of fit perfectly as the last track on the 1999 album. Was it written by then or did it come after? Can someone refresh me on the history of Moonbeam Levels please?

^its a 1999 outake...it was replaced with Free.....I'd love to hear a crystal clear version of moonbeam levels...but I doubt he'll release it without 'tweaking it'....which lately, has ruined the essence of the original track IMHO... if he does release it I pray he doesn't 'play with it'...its a fantastic song that should be left as is, but yeah, release it please...along with All My Dreams!!

I hope so! Moonbeam Levels is a gem.

I think he played it once in LA, if I recall correctly. Around 1982 or maybe even during the Purple Rain tour. I know a friend of mine has a live version on a concert bootleg (on vinyl).

Hope he doesn´t re-record it and releases it in its original version.

Yep. That's something I've been trying to wrap my mind around recently: There are CLEAR versions of pretty much everything we've all heard, but it's circulating privately. The tracks we've all loved have been copied so many times from the source (which wasn't as good as could be to begin with).

I'm used to the hiss and lack of dynamic range and clarity on Moonbeam Levels, and I love it in spite of this.

Prince will never release the original version of this song. He'll rerecord it as a jazz version.
