I don't want to sound a bitter party booper, but nothing is certain until Prince starts the actual concert. Seems to me that this kinda impromptu - tour is creating too much disappointments, when more concerts will be canceled. Antwerpen and Finland are on that list at the moment.
For instance, he already cancelled the FIFTH concert in a row in Finland. First 4 sold out concerts were cancelled in the last minute and now just a night before the ticket sales started . |

So what? Do you work for free?
If he can get paid the most he can to do something he loves then who's place is it to call him out for it?
*This could be the fammiest thing i have ever written.
Because mister hypocrite himself said that "money and art don't mix". Now we know what's really on the mind of this "artist".
Wow. If you hate Prince's actions... Think he's a hypocrite... don't want him to be compensated for his work.... and don't JUST (and I mean JUST) appreciate the ART.... WHY do you consume a moment of your NOBODY cares about you LIFE on this site??? It is a concert, performed by a musician. I know it's a difficult concept, but (I'll do this slowly)

NO WAIT...EPIPHANY!!!!! You're right. Money and art dont' mix. Prince, can you come play a concert in my living room for FREE????? Do it NOW you servant of the masses!!!!!!! |

Maybe they just mix a little? Of course it is OK tot be paid for the work you do. But it does seem that Prince puts in too mucht of the money part these days, so that the art-part gets covered a little. I you are going for the big bucks, there is less freedom for the art (in thsi case:meaning: playing new music).
on the other hand: i would love to pay more for a 'artistic' concert than for a greatest hits show. I don't know if the ONA tour was good for Prince? |

I don't have a problem with prince making money. I'm criticizing his lack of integrity as an artist that he had earlier in his career. The biggest possible paycheck seems to be the only thing on his mind these days. |

Since when is being paid for your work have anything to do with a lack of integrity? You have no idea what is on P's mind these days and if it is money so what. It means he is like most of the people in the world today. Once again please name all the other artist conducting free tours? |

I have lived in Dubai for the past 10 years and I've always had to accept the fact that Prince would probably never consider coming over to this part of the world for a concert ....however.....
THAT HAS ALL CHANGED!!!
I read the following in Time Out Abu Dhabi today and you can only imagine how ecstatic I was:
http://www.timeoutabudhab...10-line-up
I realise that probably most of the people on this community won't care cause you are mostly living in the US or Europe, but if you have a chance to visit the UAE while he is here, you would be surprised how much fun, sun and lots of other stuff this wonderful country has to offer!
If anyone needs any help booking hotels, suggestions on what to see or do give me a shout!
WOOOHOOOOOOO - FINALLY PRINCE IS GONNA BELLY DAYUNCE.
i heard that its a dump

Ridiculous discussion going on here!
1) As Scandalous69 said, we have lived here for years and never thought the day would come, so stop ruining this for us!!
2) If there's one artist out there who has proven a thousand times that it's not all about the money it is Prince or how many other artists do you know who have constantly played free after-show gigs in small venues?? |

Actually, the Stones have played theaters for scale. They also did a stadium and arena show on the same tour, put it out on one of the box set DVDs at Best Buy, and prob. can find on You Tube.
Bob Dylan and Pete Townshend have already thrown the whole "artistic integrity" thing out the window. Townshend basically said he doesn't care about anyone's nostalgia, he just wants the music out there to be heard, and Dylan plays corporate gigs. Prince writes songs, plays music, and if he is a sellout by putting those songs in a TV show, a soundtrack, or a commercial, it's his decision to do what he wants with his body of work. Everything has a sponsorship to it, esp. when most venues are renting the name out to dog food, beer, or cell phone companies. "Prince at Verizon"? Prince at Coors?" Something to think about.

will Prince's music be ethically accepted in a predominantly Muslim nation? some of his songs might be perceived to be 2 "loose." i know he promotes his shows as children friendly these days, but... ... was just wondering...it's a good thang he won't b performing songs like head or scarlett pussy there, but even cream might cum off as being 2 sexual

rihanna performed in abu dahbi a while ago and was dressed provocatively, and no one said anything. Prince doesnt perform cream very often either. Of course the early 80s wouldnt be acceptable there but he doesnt perform that stuff anymore, of course it will be acceptable
