Great concept! Great site! But I'm pretty sure it's completely and totally illegal, even with the descriptions provided in the Information page. Be interesting to see how long and how much of it remains.

As lovely and as 'useful' as it is, it seems like a copyright minefield....not to mention The fact that Captain Courtcase will probably set his attack dogs on it ...the guy sues if you fart and it has 2 notes the same as one if his songs or you dig up a vegetable that has a symbol-likeness.....he's going to be able to renew his subscription to Watchtower for a thousand years on this (plus have enough to pay for a romantic dinner for 2 with him and Larry)

Ah, where's Uptown? Note to Gav. You can't make any money from it anyway, you might as well post them all online.

Prince may take issue with it, but if I was the owner of the site I'd be more interested in the response of all the publishers, writers and photographers whose work he's collected and made public. It is a not for profit website, so maybe nothing will come of it. In the day and age of lawsuits and trying to regulate the interenet, I doubt that will be the case. .... no pun intended.

Pretty cool.
I just can't bring myself to care anymore. 20 years ago I would probably read/save every article. But now I couldn't possibly care less.:/
I imagine a torrent file will appear in short order in case the site is shut down. [Edited 9/30/10 16:44pm]

This is great, all those old Prince articles. I love the way the Black Music Magazines really followed him from the start, whereas the white magazines took until 1983 to pick up on him. I am going to have fun reading some of those old articles. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I just realized that after Dirty Mind many of the black teen mags could have abandoned ship, rationalizing that he was courting a new wave/punk audience. They stuck with him and he was getting just as much ink as guys who were more traditional R&B artist.

Exactly! I never would have even known who Prince was if it wasn't for Right On! magazine. Who was the first national black magazine that ever interviewed Prince.....way back in 1979... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"!
