Just got a computer upgrade and downloading video boots is for the first time a realistic prospect. So far I have downloaded Livesexy Uncut (which isn't quite a boot in the usual sense, since it is based on an official release) and Opening Night, the Musicology Staples Center simulcast performance. I've been skimming through The Digital Garden and there's so much stuff out there I haven't heard of, and there don't seem to be "best of" lists for video boots in the same way there are for audio boots. Any suggestions?

Forgot about the Ryde Divine too. Would love to say First Ave 1986, but the quality is such crap. It only leaves you frustrated at how awesome it would be if the quality was excellent, considering the material that was performed.

I didn't think of the Beautiful Experience, Love4OneAnother, Emancipation Proclamation, and Glam Slam Miami '94 shows, since they were officially broadcast, but, yeah, in the same way that if anyone hasn't seen the Lovesexy Live show, they should see it, I would heartily recommend those performances.

Actually, come to think of it, I think the '94 Miami shows were the first I ever ordered through a contact made on the PPML listserv (going back a ways now!), since I didn't have cable then. VHS baby! Man, memory lane...

THE quintessential video-boot is First Avenue 1983 as mentioned above. More specifically, Makings of the Rain since it's awesome quality and by far the best version of this show available anywhere

Those Miami shows were were not official broadcasts to the public. They were via satellite to the Minneapolis and Los Angeles Glam Slams.

Hmmmm...Really? I thought they were broadcast on BET? I seem to remember about an hour's worth of rump-shaking that preceded the actual performances, and thinking that was a sad statement on the state of BET. Am I remembering something else--another broadcast perhaps?

You are remembering correctly, it was 's 1st B-day. The concerts were sent via satellite to Minneapolis and Los Angeles and they were all interactive. There was a dj and some dancers at each club, and they talked to each other before, during intermissions, and after the show. It was never televised though.

Probably. I read the title, skimmed responses and added my reply. Something always get repeated. No biggie. Like I said it's not essential to me. Not a fan of that era at all.
