I think European Tour will Inevitably lead to new stuff

we all know prince is extremely prolific so i'm excited (not bitter) at his European tour dates. he'll find a studio somewhere and lay some stuff down. live shows have a way of doing that for him.

i also think it gives credence to my theory that the US "version" of 2010 will be different (don't ask me why, i just do) i think the tour is smart on several levels. it opens up new markets to him for one, and if the economics of it make more sense at this point, i understand that too (doesn't make him a money hungry ogre), the band lineup changes will energize him and i think a cd, dvd, and just some great shows are gonna result from these fall shows. wouldn't be surprised if he released THAT stuff in Europe only too.

lastly if this site is any indication of the rest of the US, i ain't mad at him for not f-ing with us jaded Americans still waxing nostalgic about the 80s, who don't like a pensive, spiritual 50 year old music genius (Colonized Mind, Dreamer, are some recent classic gems) and rather he still be oversexed, cursing and in the news like George Michael for drug offenses every other month. (Hmmm, wasn't Lovesexy better received abroad than the US and sparked his European fanbase differently?) Live in and enjoy the moment! Wish i go concert hop in northern Europe or the middle east this fall.

Why do you think he will go to a studio while touring?

Why do you think the tour will open up new markets?

Why do you think there will be a CD and/or DVD "resulting" from the tour?

Why do you think that europeans are less nostalgic and into the 80s stuff?

Just interested in your theories because everything we've seen of Prince during the last 15 years would usually make you think exactly the opposite. You got some strange theories there, frankly.

i'll elaborate a bit.

i think he'll have TIME to go in to the studio. being the workaholic he is, i think he'll find a place abroad to lay some stuff down. the tour dates are spread out enough to do so.

the tour will open up new markets in the sense that he'll play some places for the first time. UAE, Dubai, etc. these places like many, probably only have seen, heard the "pop culture soundbytes" (kinda like Dr. King's i have a dream speech, its really a critical commentary against America in its entirety, but it gets reduced, frozen in time, so same for P, LRC, LGC, butt-out jeans jokes, etc.

i think the cd is possible because he loves to record, the dvd i think is more likely because i think it'll occur to him that he hasn't done one and his American fans will want to see/hear some DOCUMENT of this period (kinda like he did the book and live cd for 21 nights). he'll do SOMETHING to encapsulate this period

europeans MAY be equally nostalgic about the 80s period. good point. i can't generalize. i'm not over there, but Lovesexy was received better there and i think as a more organic record, and Europe's history of embracing artists, and styles that America doesn't in GENERAL bodes well for him to do a more eclectic and less hits driven set list
