No. Its 2010 and Prince knows that someone can get anything they want in the world with little effort now. It was given away and there are more copies available than would have actually sold. If we buy from Europe, we get the exact same copy everyone else got for free. The CD was never released. I was given away. which is what he promised about 15 yrs ago. Prince doesn't have the selling power he used to have. He has to get paid in other ways. Doing stuff like this keeps him in the news.

I think that while just about every American Prince fan has probably found a way to get a copy of 20TEN one way or another, I do think that it is kind of sad that we were left out.

Why are you mad at us, Prince?

There are three basic possible scenarios here...

A) The album '2010' is what it is, and with no further intention or configuration.

B) Prince tried to strike a distribution deal here in the US, and wasn't happy with the results, so he decided upon the newspaper/periodical method.

C) There is a plan in place for a US release.

But wait... there's more...

The BIG question is... Was the "giveaway" version of the album edited back? There are a few good reasons why folks may believe this.

A) The intro of the brilliant "Beginning Endlessly" sounds like a possible seque from a previous song.

B) The very end of "Lay It Down" where he says, "Let's go", it is an obvious edit, where it possibly went into something extended, or smashed right into another song.

C) The overall brevity of the album duration... yeah, could have intentional, but I doubt it.

Considering the comments on the Org about Prince's latest releases being lackluster, by the numbers, etc. I think America got what it deserved. Anyone who still enjoys Princes music managed to get it somehow.

Yes, you can get the album if you want it. Yes, it's disappointing that ALL of Prince's albums do not receive a worldwide release. Considering that he is an American artist with a HUGE American fanbase, it's definitely been an unpleasant surprise that the album has not been officially released in the States.

I do get the occasional offering from friends; that's how I got 20Ten, but I don't seek it out anymore

I think in theory I would prefer to buy it, but if you can't I guess downloads are acceptable

When Lotusflower was released in the US, did the rest of the world spend the following months bitching about it and crying? My guess is that they just accepted it and were just pleased that there was a new album to be had, then set about obtaining the album by other means. Now i will admit that Lotusflower was a little easier to buy in other countries, but 20TEN is not difficult to obtain.

It is looking very unlikely that the USA or other countries will be getting 20TEN, accept it and move on, this crazy notion that Prince is mad at you and he must hate the US because he has not toured there of late is absolutely ridiculous.

The USA is not the only country in the world who would like the album and would also like him to play gigs.

Yeah, I transitioned from Napster and Limewire to torrenting exclusively through sites and now sharing services are super popular with trading online fan releases.

Anyway, the album is worth checking out. I prefer it over The Truth, as far as acoustic stuff goes. The songs all feel very consistent and its a nice, chill album. Parts of it are a little moody (songs dealing w/ his troubles w/ Mayte), but it is an honest album.

Maybe now might be a good time to try and obtain ONA piano (if you can afford it).

Prices are probably only going to increase more and more.

that is a valid point in general about America & Americans, but seeing as Prince is American, I think it's also valid to wonder if he excluded his own country for a reason
