To my taste, except for the title track, it's cringeworthy. The confirmation of my initial thought on Musicology that his creativity and edge had disappeared. Little could I imagine that he would worsen things even more with Planet Earth. [Edited 10/17/10 16:30pm]

Just don't know what you people are listening to. Nothing Personal, as it is all opinion. I have been saying for years that Prince's studio work is pretty good most of the time. The same people that are blasting his studio albums are saying how great he is live. ONA in 2002, and Musicology in 2004, he was great live.
Other live shows: He basically has been playing lame shows with too many cover songs, and too many different female background singers actually taking the lead vocals. Not to mention that when he does finally do a great show like the ones he did when Lotus Flow3r came out...he pulls the plug on any chance of a real tour...and now he is right back to the female singers and cover songs crap. I love the man, but would rather listen to Planet Earth on my stereo than listen to his latest background HO sing Come Together or I'll Take You There.

My fav of the last decade, 3121, Love, Fury and even Lolita could have been released in the 80's or the early 90's...no one would have complained. The Dance and The Word? Same!
And I love the lyrics from Love...

Criminally overlooked Prince album. Classic flawless Prince production but it was fresh and lush in some places, strak and minimalist in others. THis version of "The Dance" is pure genius and no one else on earth could have made it.

regarding the concerts - the Montreux 2009 was a really really nice concert which really revolved around the music and I wish he did a tour on that flow again. I did have fun at the 20ten concert in Werchter but I'm starting to get a bit tired of the Greatest Hits thing, and the fact that the new record has been almost completely disregarded live.
On 3121: Looooove the title track; love Fury but like many prefer the SNL version, Black Sweat is nice. all the rest is listenable but not memorable. Te Amo Corazon; I dislike the Spanish title and prenounciation - it makes it sound sooo cheesy, and that's a pity because all the rest of the son I really like. Agree! Especially about the Montreaux 2009 concerts. So wish I'd been there, those were interesting setlist and arrangements of songs.
Also crazy about 3121 (live!) and black sweat...
