what video lovemachine? i would like to check it out!

This clip came from a DVD release of some of the material Kevin Smith did on a college tour.

http://www.amazon.com/exe...d&n=507846

If you like his movies it's a must see. I would say that about 50 percent of it is pretty funny, 20 percent is hilarious and the other 30 percent is kind of stupid. I would give it a B+ overall rating.

I've seen it at the video store so it is available for rental.

Poste elsewhere, but belongs here:

I have to admit that I'm worried about this whole "divide up the room" trend. "My way or the highway". One thing I always loved about Prince was the sense of inclusiveness he invoked - black/white, straight/gay, man/woman - how none of it mattered. Now the man who gave us "we should celebrate our similarities" is dividing up the audience into sinners and saints.

Makes me wonder if i can write off my $100 membership fee as a religous contribution. Seems like a matter of time if Prince stays this course. Did HE worry about who he may have offended with "I sincerely wanna' fuck that taste out of your mouth"? No, nor should he. If P is offended by profanity, it's as much his issue as it is Kevin's, and I don't give a damn what book he keeps in his back pocket.

How many fans gave up meat because Prince is vegan?

How many are JW now because he went that way?

Strange, but somehow the message I ALWAYS got from Prince and his music was to think for yourself and to be what you wanted to be...

Gimme a break. He only digs it when he's not the chump on the receiving end of his "unpredictability, mystery, and surprise." Sure must have been a big mystery and surprise for fans who sweltered and sweated in a crowded room for hours while they waited for Prince to show up.

Yeah, Prince would really dig it if he had worked for someone for a week with no pay and didn't even receive the courtesy of a "thank you."

Prince is NOT mysterious or unpredictable. He's a selfish asshole who thinks the world revolves around his needs and fuck everybody else.

lol
Maybe he and Jason will fly back to MN.. ring the doorbell and "kick some ass" to end the documentary like his last film ended.

Well for all those who worry that Prince is surrounded by "Yes-men", this doesn't offer much hope.

NOBODY has the balls to say no to the guy? It's not like Kevin Smith is a nobody who should be expected to work for free. If he didn't want to do it he should have just walked out, not been told "We can't tell him that". Except he's obviously too polite (and see how good manners is totally unrelated to bad language?)

CHAKA MAD!mad

Prince then hugged her and said "I Feel For You"

Whitney did a great version of "I'm Every Woman" and gave Chaka credit on the vocal arrangement.

And Chaka was in the video with that million dollar smile.

Ashford and Simpson ain't mad.

I don't understand why Prince has a problem with the fact that once your song is recorded anyone can cover it.

The writers and publishers get paid fairly and squarely.

I can see if it were like the old Pat Boone/Little Richard thing but it's not like that today.

Prince has done covers and his songs have been covered by people.

As a songwriter that is a great compliment as well as a great way to boost your catalog.

Why aren't Prince and Chaka working together anymore?

i used to follow prince's lead about spirituality because he USED to preach a brand of faith which was INCLUSIVE. but now he's 'banishing' people who don't follow his lead. how long before he declares jihad on the unbelievers?

There must be something about this in Machiavelli's writings. The way to control others is to behave as if you are the King/Queen/Boss who must be obeyed.

Most people in our society are in fact polite and obedient souls who have been taught to be nice and follow the rules. Prince, as well as many others, has learned from Machiavelli to take advantage of the politeness of general society.

If everybody behaved like Prince, there would be total chaos. Nothing would function. Prince is able to get away with not believing in CONtracts and not believing in the concept of time and his other shenanigans simply because those around him DO believe in them.

In other words, in order for the rebels and non-conformists in our society to be able to go their own way and do their own thing, they must rely on others to follow the rules.

For example, Prince sits in air-conditioned comfort, twiddling his thumbs and doing whatever while his audience sweats in crowded and sweltering conditions waiting for him to arrive. The majority of people in that room, including Kevin Smith and the fans, are part of society's conformists and rule followers. They are too polite to tell Prince to get off his ass and come and do his job so everybody else doesn't have to suffer in discomfort and heat for hours.

(quote from my other post "Read the full transcript...):

In case you don't know who Kevin Smith is, he's about one of thé top movie directors in the States, did the last Affleck/Lopez flick and was asked to come to Paisley by Prince personaly to record, direct and shoot some listening sessions for the Rainbow Children album, which would then go into discussions with fams about the album, it's concept and the response they would give on it...with Prince attending as well.
This with the intention to produce a valid, interesting and personal inside documentary about Prince's views on music, race, God, the music industry and those of his fams.

Ok, as a 30 something, I have no idea who Kevin Smith is but he sounds really funny.

Secondly, if this interview is legit, then I think someone should do Prince a favor and sign him up for counseling...QUICK! I'm sorry, I love the man's music and all and went through my turbulent teens with it, but there's no excuse for that kind of 'ish'. Good thing I'm not Kevin. I would have left after the third "Prince will call you in ... minutes" deal. Give me a break.

Didn't someone once say that he had a relative that was mentally disabled? Perhaps this is happening to our boy wonder.

I'm sure Kevin Smith is a fan, but obviously not a hardcore fan or he would know about Prince and his vague, unreliable ways, videos never seeing the light of day and especially the vault.

He should have known that when you meet your idols you sometimes run the risk of being disappointed...

Anybody know who this Stephanie he mentions is? I've not come across the name before but apparently she 'produced' 50 unseen videos for Prince??

Read this link as it proves that Prince has produced loads of music videos (they quote 47) and that was written in 1995.

Ah, yes but here's the rub, Kevin wanted something from Prince. So he figures if he goes along with filming the celebration Prince would eventually do him a solid and let him use TMBGITW for his movie.
