i never liked the opening title track (un-released version is awesome though ), but the rest of it is pretty decent though. prolly not the best he did that decade, but still damn solid (save a song or 2)

It may not seem it now, but this album was a huge risk for Prince. Knowing that he would lose fans who wanted just another Purple Rain album, he garnered a lot of respect from the critics and other fans who knew his journey was bigger than just one note.

I've always loved this album minus The Ladder, which is just total nonsense.
