Dance On, Yay or Nay! The whole song sounds like a bunch of samples put together, almost pop meets Public Enemy. Very weird, but in a great way. Evil lyrics. Killer bass. Fantastic use of rythem. Not really a traditional song, but it is unique in that Prince way that only he can do.

Yay, and it was cool to find it on a rehearsal boot live with lyrics, unlike the tour version. TRUE BLUE

Hells Yeah!
One of my all time favourite P songs to drum to. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

You're not listening, if you think it's a bunch of samples. And it's traditional for Prince, when you put things like "Tambourine", and "Something In The Water" next to it.

Mos Def in the year 2010 is the same as saying most definately.

YAY !! "open your heart, open your mind

Mos Def, pronoun, is a rapper.
Mos def, adjective, stands for "most definitely."

Thumbs up. I did a mash up of Dance On vs Dance 4 Me. 2nd favorite behind Black Sweat/Kiss.

Great big yay.
Back in the day, this was the song I'd thrust at people who mistakenly believed that Prince was 'wimpy'.

Awesome song that always reminds me how great Prince and Sheila are together.

Always loved that track. The sampling on Dance on is sort of a template for Batman. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

most skippable track on that album. half-baked mess that never congeals into music, for me.

^^ There are no skippable tracks on LoveSexy - at least not the original issues, lol. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

So what you're saying is that you broke your funky bone? I shoulda sent flowers.

A big yay. It took me a while though.

nay.
Lovesexy is one of my favorite Prince albums, but I often skip this song.I don't think it works with the other tracks on the album.

Great song. I was surprised when Lovesexy came out, that two of my friends that did not really care for Prince really liked Dance On!

yeah, i feel the same way. it has its interesting bits though

BIG YAY!!! Love this song, it usually ends up on quite a few playlists

nah, I just never felt like the funk came together on this one. it's a little overly busy trying to disguise the fact that it never really finds a groove.
I might like the backing track better with some different lyrics or a different vocal delivery. not sure. it's just never done anything for me.

I never knew there was sampling on Dance on....always thought it was sheila versus a drumcomputer...anyway, great track, but i love all of lovesexy.

The funk doesn't come together? Nothing comes together better than this song. It is completely original. There is no other song like it.

"Get off me punk, u aint sexy." lol That line is the my favorite on the song. I wished he did more songs like this one honestly. It was hot then and I still listen to it now

Used to be filler for me until I actually paid attention to how the percussion is laid out. Very intricate and complex. Also each iteration is completely different in arrangement. Def a Yay and now one of my favorite tracks on the album. Christian Zombie Vampires
