a true legend i am one of those people who bought every album. whether i was having a good time or bad time in life princes music always inspired. Unlike many artists his music was fresh interesting and honest whether it upset people or not he said it. proud 2 b a fan

I'm sure he had a few moments of after seeing the sales continually decline after 1993. He can say he doesn't care about selling records, but PLEASE! He wanted Gold to be a huge success, but it wasn't. Maybe WB is partially to blame for holding off on the release for so long, but I honestly believe if it was really that good it would have sold better. I think for most people, outside of the hardcore Prince fans, he just made himself look like a fool bitching about owning the masters to his music and scrawling the word slave across his face. I mean trying to compare himself to an actual slave was insulting. He sunk his own ship!

The 70's and 80's sales prove that alone. anything else is chump change. let's not forget the money he made off his motion pictures and tours and merchandising. it's easy to play with money when you've already made your money. A lot of his business ventures failed miserably but when you can play Coachella and walk away with 4.3 million then that can make up for something like PE or LF.

Prince later on bitched about how the average music video costs $300,000 (this was on the L41A site). Well, when you're making a $300,000 music video for every song you record and you just happen to be having a bumper crop in the studio, you're going to lose a lot of fucking money. I suppose the NPG Stores didn't help his cause either.

you ain't burstin my bubble nor Prince's. Prince hasn't been close to broke since he was a young tyke eatin fries at McDonalds. You and I and many others were supporting him just fine all throughout the years especially in the 80's and 90's. People were claiming he was broke during LOVESEXY and he still managed to go on a world tour. He came back and did the soundtrack for BATMAN and revamped any losses he may have experienced.
